We could try a test run for a month, after we gather the money for it, and see if the cost is worth the 'benefits', if you're willing Irming.

Ofcourse it all depends on player donations, no one is expecting staff to cover the cost. Everyone that plays here is in debt to Irming and all the others involved that keep the shard running. It may be that the costs mean it simply isnt an option to have a dedicated server all year round. In my experience of playing here there are definate peaks of player activity at certain times of the year. If sufficient donations were pledged one possibility would be to pay for a dedicated server for 2 months (voted on by the playerbase). Im not sure how much effort that would require from Irmings side in organising the switch to a dedicated server then reverting back to the local server and whether it would be worth the effort or not, I guess that would be for him to decide.

A dedicated server would only make any sense if there was no Host ready to attend and fix all the time. Which isn't the case.

The disconnects have a fix, just need to be found. You can try any game, anywhere, if you don't play it on a USA server, you will get higher pings none the less.

If you know dedicated servers with "try for a month" option - do share (or PM actually). Location will have to be Europe and in best case Germany.

Generally the problem with dedicated servers is that a) they're easily 100$ a month and b) the contract will last for 2 years. Suddenly we're talking of 2400(+)$.
