Suggestion about the dedicated server problem

Hello! Ahriman here.

Although I may not be the best RPer here (FAR FROM IT) I happen to be one of the greatest technologically gifted experts in Canada (and very sarcastic, so make a joke about Canadian living in Igloos, and I will slay you).

Now for servers I have a suggestion, and it is located in Texas, America, the BANDWIDTH Capital of the world.

The server I suggest's statistics:

Code: Select all

Dual 3.06GHZ Xeon Dual Core 533Mhz CPU Rackmount Server
6GB RAM
5 x 73GB 10k SCSI HDD
PERC 3 RAID controller w. 128MB cache
Dual power supplies
5000 gigs of bandwidth included!
Now with this server, it has many more features just ask me, I can manage if your want, this server is $299.00 per month, with a one time setup fee of $99.00.

I do not own this server, so no it's not me being the center of attention lol. All I know is that us "Americans" I quote as apparently Canadians are part of North Americans, even though we are north OF america, we need support too!

The HDD Capacity made of real gold (the important parts which makes it even more better, speed-wise), comes out to 3.65 TB is actually unlimited, the more you need, the more they add.

If you are interested in more details and so on, please let me know.

PS: This is about Pangaea's Dedicated Server, as yours seems to be soon removed.

Sincerely, Ahriman (Jesse Jarvis)

PS: For website examples of the websites it hosts, 3 main ones are

If we're having trouble getting 600 euros for a years subscription on the current dedicated server, do you think we can get 300 dollars each month? Might be a good server and all but isn't happening.

"I happen to be one of the greatest technologically gifted experts in Canada"

Even with these words i can only think that these servers are on American continent, which usualy means that the connections to europe are horrible. Which means that most of the european players are unable to play, meaning 75% of the shard is unable(by unable i mean either extreme lag or totaly unable) to play.

So yeah also considering the money problem i think this is more than enough said. Also i remember that our shards own scripter said that the requirements for this shard to run are way lower that would mean it would be just waste of money to use suchs a server for this shard.

EDIT: FFS this game was released 1997, requirements hardly matter now days when computers are 10 times more powerful than back then.

300 dollars per month?is this a joke?c'mon. we can't even afford 30 dollars per month based on the current donations.
i would be able to donate what, 10 euros a month whenever i finish university and get a full time job, but we would need 30 players being able to do the same. it's just not gonna happen

600 Euros = 744.78 U.S. dollars

So ways Google, and this is

299.00 U.S. dollars = 240.8765 Euros

Sorry I use google lol. Yes I know this is a different price range. And personally, it is a 30 day money-back guarantee, so do what you want, I was just suggesting this.

Also, Computer connections mean shit! Lol, sorry but all computers are almost always better.

PS: Sorry, 600 euroes per year, nvm. Well than players should be donating more! I would if I didn't get PKed all the time, and could RUN on mounts.

The only real thing that matters right now is the connection, you could propably host this shard on a laptop with only effect being a slower world save times. So the hardware is not the issue by a long shot and investing in a server plan as suggested is not viable by any means. If the server would be relocated to US the europeans would suffer alot.

Only servers that are running on top of RunUO work well between continents, the reason for this is the client update EA did way back. RunUO handles the network traffic and client communication differently and therefore it's alot more tolerant to higher latency etc. I am not suggesting that Pangaea should be migrated to RunUO emu, becouse I know first hand how much work that would mean.

Dedicated server hosting outside off Europe is never going to happen for pangaea - so no need to even consider it. Because - this price is WAY to high to even consider - no matter where the server resides

That is okay, I just said "suggestion" :) It was only my opinion, and it seems to be also a matter for money vs what you are paying and what this would cost.

Thanks anyways :)
