Arolith wrote:Well... Using an alarm and sitting at the computer might be near the "gray area", but still it gives you an advantage over the game. You can totally forget about it and only type in the few numbers when your alarm goes off. You basically get your characters trained only because someone made you a few easyuo macros.
Its just cheaper but a bit more risky than setting up second screen...

its easy aswell make a reminder as haldric had once...

Code: Select all

sound c:\MacroAlert.wav
wait 1s
sound c:\MacroAlert.wav
wait 1s
sound c:\MacroAlert.wav
wait 1s
sound c:\MacroAlert.wav
wait 440s
Does it have realy difference? no one of us probably doesnt watch 100% of macro time your screen while macro does everythign for you? ffs that would be just total waste of time and 0% of shards players would play here if it would be like that...

Anyways only easy way is to setup second screen... im one of these persons who try to make it as safe as possible so i have game screen, journal somewhere that i can see it and macroalarm on and i mostly dont play any games only watch series, movies or anime... (window mode cs has huge fps drops all of time and i cant get Combat arms into window mode even with D3D windowers :s) so i dont realy have choises... Aswell sometimes movies and suchs take my whole attendion (like my first macrocheck fail (time before antimacro check) even though i was on computer i had uo so i could see it all of time i didnt just notice macrocheck on screen)

Anyways GM macrochecks are undetectable etc GMs are free to go check every macroer they find.

I completely admit that I use the macro alarm myself, and that If I couldn't have it, I wouldn't play UO. Get off your high horse Arolith, Alarm or not, it is impossible to macro faster than anyone else, and macro alarms aren't perfect, as was said earlier.

And this game is getting old, people have lives and there are much more advanced games out there than you don't have to macro on. The very fact that we are here indicates we love the game, not the grinding, when UO was first released the grinding was hit hard by critics and it led to AFK macroing. Who wouldnt? Someone seriously wants to stare at a screen especially with skills like discordance, item id etc? I think not.

At this current stage of pang, only an idiot wouldnt use a macro check, some of us take great care to avoid breaking rules but this one is almost a necessity considering how old the game is, people do have lives and people may need to study (like myself).

I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

If you have the money, you can get yourself a fairly large monitor. Imagine all the things you would be able to do in the same time while you are macroing...

I have 2 screens, I use(d) both. Yet I still ran the macro alram because I simply can not be assed to look at the [other] screen every so often especially when I'm getting laid.

I can't make up my mind which is more sad that you keep your macros running while getting laid, or that you stop the act when you hear the alarm sound. :?
