A new recruit

It was dark, probably almost midnight, though he couldn't be sure. The sky was clouded this night. He just stood there, waiting in front of a large cave entrance. Waiting for whatever lived inside to come out. Nearly seven foot tall, he was larger than most men. His weapon, a huge maul strapped behind his back, was ready for action whenever he required it.
A single drop of water fell from the skies and landed on his nose, though he didn't notice it. Soon after, the rain started in full, soaking his pants and boots. He didn't wear anything on the upper side of his muscled torso. Still he waited.
For hours he just stood there, waiting in the rain and dawn was fast approaching. The creature would awaken soon. The creature that murdered his nephew.
"Come out and face your doom!" He shouted.
It remained silent for many moments. Then suddenly, an ogre lord came rushing out, straight towards him. He didn't flinch. He didn't move. He didn't even draw his weapon.
The beast smashed into him, thinking to overrun him. The beast, a full foot larger and many times heavier than him, might as well have run into a solid wall. As the creature bounced into him, he pushed it away with all his might. The ogre fell backwards and landed on it's behind.
The man eyed the ogre dangerously and growled, while he slowly approached the beast. The ogre, confused as it was, quickly regained it's senses and stood up, issuing a growl as well. "You stupid man. Grulsh crush you and eat you now," it said and started laughing.
A hard punch on it's eye abruptly ended the laughing. The ogre staggered back a few feet and shook it's head. It growled again and took a swing with it's huge arm, aimed for the man's head.
The huge man just moved backward a step and then moved back forward, using his movement to hit the ogre on the head with both his fists. The beast fell down on it's behind again, this time dazed.
"Time to finish this," the man said quietly.
He drew his maul slowly and approached the beast again. The ogre stood up once more and hit the man solidly in the face. The man just shook his head and shrugged it off, spitting some blood aside. Then he grinned wickedly and in a calm tone he simply said, "Die," and so it died. The maul landed on it's head, crushing it and splattering it's contents all over the place.
The man wiped off the blood and gore off his body and maul and sheated the weapon. Then he continued his journey to the headquarters of the group of mercenaries everybody was talking about lately.
