For your service

Post by Tyrion »

Ondoher was accompanied by Tyrion at the steps of the temple. The rite needed to be performed post-haste and with precision. Maven and Alaric were indisposed or unable to come despite the urgency with which the messages were sent. They had to hope their power would be enough, combined to successfully complete the commune. "Esuna requested our presence more than an hour ago. We should not keep Her waiting Brother." Tyrion nodded and looked over his shoulder one more time for any sign of the others. He sighed and made his way into the altar room following behind Ondoher. They made the necessary preparations and and positioned themselves accordingly in front of the altar. "You must allow me to syphon your essence Brother. You will be weak for a time but will never be in any real danger," Ondoher warned. The sacrifice was necessary. Tyrion realized what was at stake and obliged. Ondoher started the rite after a link was established and the commune was under way. The rite would pit Tyrion and Ondoher's thoughts shared; a nightmare scenario. . It required the utmost of trust and respect for ones personal privacy and was not a route normally considered unless under emergency situations.

The field of vision darkened, cleared, darkened again and then became opaque. After a while the vision cleared and a semblance of themselves was projected into Esuna's realm. They observed their ethereal selves with a bit of skepticism and regarded their Queen immediately. They bowed low. She welcomed them with one beautifully toned arm, into Her presence. Esuna's countenance, Tyrion noted was beyond compare in their world. Her beauty figuratively stopped both of their movement, momentarily. Ondoher was thinking the same as Tyrion because he sensed the hesitation to move. They stepped forward. Esuna smiled and regarded them. "I understand the sacrifice that was made for you to be here with me, but, I would not ask it thus, unless needed. I called you both here to receive a blessing. For your service and successes, I grant you a an additional holy rite. I shall teach you the holy words required to recite this rite and educate you in the recommended uses. This is only the beginning of the holy rites that shall be bestowed upon the faithful of my Order."

At the end of the lesson, they both nodded to one another. Esuna blinked twice and they immediately felt an orange aura envelop them. They both awoke on the floor of the temple.

"Are we all here this time?" Essi demanded an answer more than asked. Maven was the first to reply, "we're missing Alaric, again. . . . ." Ondoher started by proclaiming, "We don't have time to wait for him." Tyrion began by stating, "we should wait for him, our strength is in unity." "We don't have time for waiting." Ondoher continued by adding, "whatever is keeping him, must be important, we must trust his judgement and accept his tardiness as a sign to continue with the task at hand." Slowly, they each nodded to one another. "Let us hope that this communion does not end with a blackout, as the last one did." Tyrion grinned. "We server at Her pleasure Brother, do not concern yourself with the consequences, solidify your resolve for what must be done now." Tyrion mumbled something indecipherable under his breath. "Take up the four corners of the imaginary Ankh. We should be able to effectively channel the energy and sustain it if we maintain a connection which symbolizes a representation of our Order." Tyrion concluded. All nodded and assumed their roles. After ten minutes of chanting, a connection had been established. Sitting cross-legged in their world, they effectively projected a version of themselves into Esuna's realm, which according to Tyrion's estimations, was a ethereal plane of existence parallel to their own. It was the only conclusion he could fathom which had allowed for his second-coming. The surrounding was familiar to Ondoher and Tyrion, whom, on many occasions had visited. Tyrion regarded Essi and Maven intently. The connection while stable, did not account for the vertigo that would be felt in traversing the gateway. It could be overwhelming. They did not seem to be showing signs of delusion, which was very good. Such strength embodied the tenets of why Esuna chooses those to maintain a portion of Her essence while in our world. Esuna valued character above all else, and it showed. Esuna descended from the lofty position Her regal royal throne was located. Down the steps she glided. Her bodice ever more beautiful than when he had first laid eyes upon Her. Tyrion felt unworthy to gaze upon such beauty but was reminded of his very first encounter with his Queen, it strengthened his resolve to take Her in completely and bathe in Her majesty. All four kneeled and bowed their heads in deference. In unison, they stated, "My Queen!" Ondoher, being the senior clergy member among them waited for his moment to address their Goddess. The wait was not long.

"Rise my faithful servants. She grinned slightly and continued: The time has come, once again to bestow my Order with tokens of goodwill. These holy sacraments required more devotees. I must admit my disappointment that Alaric is not present. . again . . "My Queen, we assure you that his presence is sorely missed and that only a matter of the utmost urgency would have kept him away," Ondoher quickly put in. "Let us hope so. For now, the hardship placed upon you four instead of five, will have to suffice." She began to instruct them in the ritual and even went as far as too describe the subtle nuances of the invocation the rite required. Any deviation would be time consuming at the least and deadly at the the most. They all interlocked hands and began the chant.

Some time later, nobody had died and they assumed all had gone well. Esuna slowly opened Her eyes and stated: "Well done." The tether was severed shortly after and they all awoke from their meditative stances, in the temple and began regarding one another with smiles and congratulations on their success.
