Alright, what do you guys think about this?
I've always heard that players are the main artists with the storyline. Even GMs have said several times that players will write the story and they will not interrupt us long as we stay inside the rules and history.
From my point of view, this is bullshit. I've faced the cold fact many times when GMs are suddenly leading the story and when we, players, try to create it, it's suddenly wrong.
Am I alone here or what? Am I just stupid or what?
Players create the storyline in Pangaea, or do they?

I am nobody. Nobody is perfect. Therefore, I must be perfect!

You're not alone Lily.

Re: Players create the storyline in Pangaea, or do they?
can you specify?
i think the gm's should allow players to lead the story the way they want.
but that should come with a consequences = piety boosts and piety nerfs, which i think we don't want to see again.
if players are left with all the freedom to do what they want, they can do really what they want, and then they'll keep the piety, so for all matters, their god supports that. but sometimes it's not the case, so they should have a piety drop. that's why piety boosts/drops would be needed if players would have the freedom. to make sure they can be free, aslong as they have common sense.
if players have TOTAL FREEDOM they can suddenly rp that Dennac after all is a nature lover. while keeping their piety.isn't that stupid? so, if for some reason you feel that gm's are stopping your rp think that if your rp was reasonable or not (not saying it wasn't)
for instance.
one thing that my bard would really like to see is how come nature suddenly attacked necromancers, law, etc..
but since they're so free to do their rp and there are no piety drops for going against the "natural" rp, what can he say?
"hey i think that's bs, but what do you know, you still have your piety, so i guess gaea is ok with that"
either players are sometimes restricted, or if they are not, they must face the consequences of a possible piety nerf in case their god is not happy with what they do.
if they're completely free, with no consequences for twisting the original rp of the shard, they can rp gaea as a stupid goddess who appreciates naked boys. dennac has a friendly guy who loves theater. winchester has a drunk god who makes fun of white stuff. and esuna has a whore.
attention, i'm not saying you are wrong, i've seen in the past that sometimes gm's do lead things, but i think that if players have all the freedom, very quickly we corrupt the main rp of the shard

Glar if you bothered to read anything at all.... Mainly this.
What you put, might have been put into some consideration.I've always heard that players are the main artists with the storyline. Even GMs have said several times that players will write the story and they will not interrupt us long as we stay inside the rules and history.
Re: Players create the storyline in Pangaea, or do they?
I think the players should have a choice to steer the storyline but I think the religions should not be purely player driven. The head priests should not be able to change anything they wish at whim. For instance, just cause a head priests decides its okay to call Esuna by name should not mean it is okay with that diety. Some people may disagree but if you decide to go against what your diety says to do or the books written then there should be a divine punishment.

Re: Players create the storyline in Pangaea, or do they?
Players do write the story, i havent seen gm interference since teks were moved to law. Though sometimes gms must step in to keep the game fair and prevent rule breaking
Re: Players create the storyline in Pangaea, or do they?
The main problem with minimizing GM intervention is that players complain too much to GM's. When Imperial went to war with Nature, apparently, Nature members were complaining incessantly which lead to GM's stepping in to cancel the war. Imo, it's our fault. If you want to develop the storyline of pang, you all need to stop complaining, and remember this is just a game. Leave your emotions out of the IG environment and remember to respect one another OOG and IG.
