My main problem with it I guess is that it wastes half the space in a field. Fields outputting half as much flax is essentially the same as doubling their house value...

To me the house value is more important than the AFK money - I make my cash hunting - I need these fields to train my heighten tailoring...

Since fields will be so expensive in house value - I will probably just say screw it - buy cloth from others - watch the public fields like a hawk - and use that extra house value to store treasures from my hunts.

I just think you should be careful not to nerf fields too hard because they have a VERY fine line of usefulness IMO. Especially considering what a pain it is to construct them.
Tailor's are pumping a TON of money in the system every 4 days. A bug got fixed, your macroing income will get halved not taken away, time to get over it.
Either you quoted the wrong person or you didn't read what I wrote? I'm not one of the the AFK farmers - I currently make 0 gold from harvesting fields - I'm the poor sod who does all the reagent runs to plant them. Then mixes 'em in my kettle.

I recognize that AFK money is a problem - but we need to remember people need to be able to train heighten tailors as well.

In case you didn't notice I proposed a limit to the amount of fields one could own... Would that not also help the afk farming problem? Currently some people's house value is like 99% fields and its a little ridiculous... let them own 1 or 2 decent sized fields and double stuff them. No space is wasted - afk money goes down - no fields get destroyed.... Just a thought anyway.

Another solution to the problem - nerf the amount banner deeds sell for.

That way you also nerf sheep farming, which is already crappy as it is.

Nobody seriously farms sheep do they? Also isn't keeping large amount of animals disallowed because it creates shard lag?

Just to be clear, we're not planning on grandfathering in those fields. Just not changing them immediately. Once we decide how to proceed, they will be brought in line with whatever we decide for the rest of the system.

Back in the old days, we were able to plant the field on every tile.

This was change by Repsak, back then for the world economy.
So the field should look like this.

1010101010101
1010101010101
1010101010101
1010101010101
1010101010101

And not like this.

1111111111111
1111111111111
1111111111111
1111111111111
1111111111111

He placed therefor a part in the script, were it checks twice if there are too many plants around.
But this part is only running, when you plant the seed. And not when the plant is fully grown.
So our wise players found a way around this, of course.

By planting like this.

111111111
11111111
1111111
111111
11111

This was never meant to be like that.

Why has it being liked that for a long time?
Because I didn’t see this before, I was done with the Ice World.

Because, when Boris was hired as Admin for the shard, I was to going to learn how to build the world.
By changing static full time and Alteran was going to stop.
Under this time I really haven't been online IG, to see what happens around. Not before Boris was telling, that he were going stop, then I came online IG again. And saw the fields, first I took a quick look at the script, and there was a part there should destroy wrongly planted, so I was thinking, that the script would handle this.
But latter I had some old players coming back to play, and they asked me about why some of the fields own by players were fully grown.

Then, I realized that something was wrong.

Then I decided to block this in the script for a start. And let it normalize by time.

If this were in the old days.
The owners of those fields was getting there field destroyed.
Mark on there account, and some days jail time.

But this is not the old days, and I really don't know how long this has been like this.
So maybe I'm getting soft, and said to my self, I don't want to use much time on this.
Fix it, and then let's move on.

Sometimes players forget that Pangaea doesn't have professional fulltime paid staff. Unfortunately that's the price of playing on free shard that delays on fixes such as this might happen.

I can relate to the frustration of those who thought that's the way the system works and put money on it only to find out it destroyed, but there is way too much gold in circulation in game anyway and issues like these are the main problem to milk the money to the system, so hopefully this will help a bit in the bigger scale. I hope you understand fixes as this are made for a reason, not to piss players off, staff doesn't want to piss players off, they want the shard to function how its meant to function.
