Re: Looting scripts
The problem lies in that Razor was developed by and for RunUO shards. There is one more fact to look at, Razor is no longer even in development, it has been replaced by a new project because the RunUO developers abandoned it for the most part, that should be a big clue that there are underlying problems with the program as generally speaking, somewhat major projects such as Razor was do not get abandoned easily for new projects unless there are fundamental flaws with said projects.aldath c'om wrote:Yiu tell me why theres servers with 500online and every single is by razor? Shouldnt those lag too then? Or is this poll problem.Ares wrote:
Razor is a shitty program that sends bad packets to the server and lags us all. That's why it won't be allowed, ever.
Back to the topic at hand:
I am glad to see a .loot command at least being considered, as I pointed out previously, I do not need to be told that no one is using looting scripts, I know people use them, I've been asked to either write ones for people or try to fix work arounds to get them working properly for Pangaea.
Thanks staff, keep up the good fight, making the tediums that plague UO less and less.

Re: Looting scripts
this will just make added work for you admin for no reason, people will still create their own scripts and loot at whatever speed they wantAres wrote:What about a .loot command?
That way, we get to control the speed at which stuff is looted, you guys don't need to bother with looting scripts, and we can still ban them in PvP.

Re: Looting scripts
It really isn't that hard of work to write such a command, it's not. It isn't like they are having to overhaul a huge system like the class system, also consider, there is already a skeleton that can be used in the .grab command, changing it to work for pvm corpses only.Adram wrote:this will just make added work for you admin for no reason, people will still create their own scripts and loot at whatever speed they wantAres wrote:What about a .loot command?

Kinda would rule out the necessity for loot scripts
While such command surely makes PvM a lot more enjoyable and as such should be done, it won't remove the problem of PvP.
if there was a .command for turbo looting mobs it would be easier to detect those who gain a unfair "supernatural" looting speed in pvp as gms would have more time to monitor pvpers apposed to pvm looters
i honestly think since my time looking at osi they have already gave up on players and now use insurance to stop players from doing extactly what alot of people on this thread have been mentioning
maybe a rule in pvp should be if you choose to loot your frozen for x amount of seconds while you finish the loot( this rule could give players who dont need loot time to cover ground)
maybe certain items can increase x (more valuable)
anyone eles with cool rules like this i would like to see your ideas
there should be some kind of handicap for pvper who chooses to loot over letting player back to body to fight before losing money/cloths/armors/affects
sadly its the only "detectable" solution to rule
my rule is only an expansion to the "insurance" type rules
wouldnt be hard to script just hard to tweak to levels every player is comfortable with
maybe a "trap" on players body can be earned or bought with something
i personally think looting commands could stop people from missing cloths in gumps which is a big drawback to players learning how to loot for pvp
they arent gonna develop skills if anything a .loot commands are gonna make more users want to loot script in pvp
i honestly think all magic cloths should look the same inside your backpack but thats just me
one vote against looting scripts one vote to gold looting command pvm ( or even jazzier gold injected to bank or backpack every kill)
