Re: "Pangaea 2" progress
Should we continue with IG operations from a religious / political standpoint? My logical thought process ends with yes. . . Most of the changes will be on the back-end with some noticeable differences on the front-end to the user, correct?

I liked Ares idea. Make a RunUO shard but not Pangaea, only based on it. No chars no items. Though remove skilldrop on failed MC so one can be arsed to macro. Just DC on failed MC.

Wherever this is going, I'm just glad that people here are active and won't give up on Pangaea when it's going through a rough patch. Pang, you are way too beautiful to die. *teary eyed*

If shit hits the fan (which is my guess), I'll be back again in a few months.
Well it already hit the fan, if the RunUO project is set up for failure then I don't want to even begin it.
This decision is crucial for Pangs future, and I want to know who is really running the show. Who is head admin, are the Danes still the owners of Pangaea?

As long as we get the skills/stats we earned from Pangaea I am down for it.

Pretty good idea right there. Starting over fresh should include means set up to get off the ground quickly.Johnny Walac wrote:I liked Ares idea. Make a RunUO shard but not Pangaea, only based on it. Re: "Pangaea 2" progress
*chuckles* When the idea of limited (to one) character transfer was suggested, I gave it thought because it would work fine in my case (not without loss but comparably small loss to me than to many other older players) so instead of panic over it, I did see how it could have positive effect on economy when the difference between old old old players and younger ones could be brought down. And players would actually need each other instead of being self-efficient.
I did also think of one free- transfer and donation-restoration of other characters with time delay between characters restoration.) But ultimately, why I did my first post was simply trying to point out that, even with a good reason (which is not in this case), it is the same pain to some people (me!) to lose the heighten training just as for the others to lose some of their characters. I can understand, though, that different coding system might make it difficult to keep things the same as it is and we all need to be prepared to suffer some loss.
As for complete character-wipe with easier skill gain and no macrocheck ... there are skills that are not macro-able. Easier skill gain will get ppl back on their feet sooner and things will resume to the same : lots PvP and bad market. In a long run it is not better. And from my point of view, non-macro-able skills should have greater reward and the benefit of not missing macro-checks, such as lock pick and taming.

Re: "Pangaea 2" progress
any sort of limitation sucks. i would, in a worst case scenario, "gladly" admit a 3 char transfer limit. arden is right when he says most classes will lose numbers, ppl have stopped playing/etc.
i don't want to start over from scratch, however, i do want this new skill system where gains are hard (not as hard as heighten lol) but you can become godlike even at like 90's. having 100 would be perhaps a bit harder than ancient, but if you should ever achieve it, it would work better than our current 105.
our 100 would be something like 75-85

Re: "Pangaea 2" progress
I'd like to see the new version pretty much like the old one with it's characters meaning whole account transfers should be made possible. Don't know if that's hard to do but would be lovely after all these years of macroing. New ideas have been pretty good so far and little adjustments might be good. Just try to make it remain great RP shard with religions and class system as those have been the best parts of this shard.
Worst thing that can happen is people loosing interest so lets try to keep old server going as long as we have a working RunUo version out right?
I don't want end up spending another decade with some other game than Pangaea.

Re: "Pangaea 2" progress
your post just reminded. isn't our major problem the fact that ppl are losing interest/lost interest already?
even with all the flaws we have in this system, ppl still played. maybe ppl just lost interest, and a new shard won't change that. i for one am looking forward to a new shard, or to this shard, as long as there are players. i prefer this shard with players than a new shard without players
which begs the question:
why are we not playing the game?
