PvM melee
so basically the answer to life and everything, is to use the unlimited ammo ranged weapons. and there is no PvM melee beyond trolls or so. does parry have some PvP use? or is it another orange koolaid?

Re: PvM melee
There is plenty PvM around. Everything in meele can be two-tiled.
Parry can be very useful in PvP if you got the right gear.

Re: PvM melee
the unlimited ammo ranged weapons mentioned above are the two tile weapons, as no matter how you look at it, thats what they are and how they are used. which i guess is how it is. i'd hoped parry would be useful for more than pvp, but it is what it is.

Don't realy know if you are complaining about that melee weapons are two-tile. Or that archer gotta "waste" arrows.
You need two-tile weapons to survive on pangaea. It's scripted that way, try and go up against a balron with your shortspear and you know what i'm talking about (Most mobs do huge damage.)
And archer is perfectly fine in PvM. With their greaterpoison arrows they are HUGE support when taking down a giant for example.
Parry can be useful in PvM. You get to parry hits and high AR. I didn't mention this as you asked if it was useful in PvP.

Re: PvM melee
i'm not really complaining about anything except for the fact that they've made parry worthless in PvM. the arrows give em extra distance. i'm well aware that the mobs hit very hard, i've been trying to melee them. may roll an archer, i cant envision Ulfr running away from everything as a method of fighting em, doesnt fit him.
Re: PvM melee
and parry may be "useful" in pvm, but it doesnt seem to scale up very well.

Re: PvM melee
If you wanna fit your class after a char that doesn't back down but still give decent dmg. I would go for Knight. Full plate with good shield and full trained parry. Throw on a parry cloth and it's just better. You will never be able to just stand a tank the good mobs. But it's the closest you will get if your char don't wanna back down. Atleast keep him alive.
It's a brave char but a stupid one. You wanna move around, dodge the hits and then move in to give that killing blow. Thats a warrior.

Re: PvM melee
if i wanted to kite mobs i'd make a ranged char, somewhere along the line you guys balanced something by just giving everyone ranged weapons. which seems borked to me, but it doesnt matter if it seems borked to me. i agree that nobody should be able to stand and face down a balron, or ancient wyrm, but ogre lord, well maybe. again, just my oppinion, and one that doesnt really matter, as nothing like a rebalance is likely to happen before the shard is dead. so if i'm going to enjoy the shard i'll just need to find a niche i can enjoy and play it while i can.
Re: PvM melee
Are you complaining or not? I can't make it out from that paragraph.

Re: PvM melee
Your putting every 2tile weapon under the ranged weapon list?
