Players, rules and behavior

Re: Players, rules and behavior
Then basicly the whole shard mentality is PvP shard, required litle RP to engage it.. guess i don't have anything more to discuss and have to live with it
Re: Players, rules and behavior
It has just been let to go out of hands.
Re: Players, rules and behavior
1. Robber vs blue RP is required time in wich to do so is not specified if you feel you didnt have time to roleplay then contact a gm.
2. rel vs rel very minimal rp required and no time limit the RP is out in the open Your our enemy we kill you.
3. rel vs guild very minimal again, as they should be at war on guild stone if not then RP would be same as the first not limit but required and if you feel you was not given enough time speak to a gm.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
I continue thinking that we should solve this problems without the staff. ofc when the rules are broken we need the staff but this is a matter that concerns only players, and I feel that the RP level and imagination from players is very litlle, thats my whole point. We could still kill eachother and loot, but we could RP more and better.
For example, as a Tekstone, beeing evil I'm a natural born lyer and I will always try to trick my enemies mind, but only if i have the chance to do it. Ofc Law wont believe me in any form, but they could also try to convert me or something.
Masano focus some truth points, wich are true, but basicly we try to bend the rules to gain advantage towards our enemy, and imo we should stop it and truely RP.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
There will always be some players who are more into the PvP and more that are into the RP, and it will just take some time to establish yourself on either side (and doing things such as rping that your messenger cage is empty can help). From my "interactions" with Johnny, I've definitely got the impression that he would be into a larger RP aspect of PvP but has often been forced to forego this due to the risks mentioned above.
I think really the only things that force the speed RP are the OOC factors and mayday. True, it gives the person more time to prepare themselves mentally, but bless, etc. is visible and is going to trigger the combat.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
Masano, you might be correct that when encountering our enemies, attacking them is part of the RP. That doesn't mean, though that we should always run into fight. The fact is that maybe if we spoke with each other we'd learn to understand each other and realize we might not need to fight... of course this only works in theory.
Also, many times the side rushing into battle is actually the side that will end up losing. You might find me "alone" and think you got me. Instead of talking to me, you rush into fight with me. I run, you run after me. By doing so you allow my friends to attack you on sight and before you realize there's a dozen of us you're already dead. Instead, had you waited you would have realized I wasn't alone.
You, Masano, are actually one of these players who just rush into battle. ;) Like when you encountered my Nox char. There was five of you and I told you I was hunting down BoP and had no intention or interest to fight you. Three of you tried to RP accordingly, trying to arrest me, saying that I have to come with you and be judged, but in the middle of me writing I see you attacking me. I even told you WE were hunting down BoP indicating that I was most certainly not alone. A moment later all your friends were dead and you ran to town. You engaged the fight with me, a fight even when we were doing your work and hunting down BoP, and because of your hasted actions all your friends died while you cowardly escaped. That's just one of these moments and must make you feel proud! :P There's been many fights where Law has died only due to the reasons they attack too quickly and refuse to listen to us. Law was camping my friends in Wrong so I came along with Ivan and told them to leave, instead of talking it out, the trigger-happy Elya attack me thinking it's just me and Ivan... and once again they die when all of a sudden there's a dozen of us.
People should stop taking this game so seriously and stop for once in a while to have some fun. Whenever we encounter another player, we should take a deep breath, realize its another human-being you're talking to and even if you end up fighting him, at least make him know that it's all about RP so he won't get pissed. I know the OOC reasons to act with haste, knowing or at least thinking that the other side is calling for backups... but even if so, why not? I'm not afraid to let you call for backups, in fact, quite the opposite. The more the merrier even if it might lead to my death. If I'm not afraid to die and lose my gear, why are you guys so attached to your dear items to let it ruin the fun. My only hope is that we can have some fun before you kill and loot me. I'm only annoyed if I am butt-raped 10vs1 with a one-liner because my enemies are afraid to talk with me... I mean, if it's 10 or even only 5 of you against me alone, SURELY you can take your finger off the trigger and have a word or two trying to arrest me first or something, letting me know that I am outnumbered and cannot survive fighting. Hell, even I acknowledge being outnumbered and as such would be willing to try the alternatives of fighting. Instead now, you know I'm outnumbered and instead of doing the alternative, you take the advantage and try to kill me. Where is the fun in that?
Some of the best moments we've had is when we've taken our enemies captive - or done some other direct RP not including fighting such as pretending to be Nature and Imperial. If our enemy is RPing accordingly, we have no need to "grief" and "ruin" his game by imprisoning him in the middle of our temple. Instead, a guy like that will have our respect. Wille did this with his Law priest even before we were pals, he wasn't afraid to be taken captive inside our own temple ato see where the RP leads us all. We tortured him for information and eventually tried to convert him. We failed and he escaped. Of course many times when we've tried to take someone captive, we get zero co-operation and complete retardism on us forcing our hand to act accordingly... and can't really blame them. I too am afraid to be taken captive by you guys when I know there's a few of you that would most likely enjoy imprisoning me without a second though in the middle of your castle just to fuck me over... just to have some sort of personal revenge.
Then again this is what has been wrong with the shard since forever and is the reason why things get so personal over the forums. Pangaea isn't the only shard where PvP is allowed, however, this is one of the few where people take it so badly, so personally that it divides the playerbase into multiple groups all hating each others guts.
Of course these are my personal thoughts and views and not everyone enjoy RP in the form of conversations the way I do.
So all in all, take a deep breath and acknowledge we're all human beings and players and use the golden rule (Treat others like you want to be treated). Try to act civil first even if IG enemies, even if it will end up in fight... and if you lose, try to see that it was nothing personal and don't do the mistake of telling them to fuck off, just as don't go laughing at the other player if you won - instead thank him for the fun in a civilized way (Oh and Johnny, "Thanks for the items" is not civilized).

Used to have this back then and it seems to be coming along with this generation aswell.Darian Darkmind wrote:Try to act civil first even if IG enemies, even if it will end up in fight... and if you lose, try to see that it was nothing personal and don't do the mistake of telling them to fuck off, just as don't go laughing at the other player if you won - instead thank him for the fun in a civilized way (Oh and Johnny, "Thanks for the items" is not civilized).
Ofcourse, i don't mind losing stuff but it always happens in very lame ways (some of them are my own fault) but hey, i cant blame them except of shouting at them over ICQ.
But i have gotten flamed on forums and laughed at, now most of you actually see who the real retards are who spoil the fun for the playerbase.
It cant be helped, i am being bullied over the internet just to make some people have a good laugh. But i can take it aslong as they're not trampling on my toes, if so. Then things get a whole other course.
Im not only going to talk of myself here... its the overall understanding of the players about behaviour in IG.
I'd like to add;
We could truly, stop the 3'rd party metagaming
As a few examples;
You track a player while you hunt, you inform your robber friends.
You see a player hunting where you wanted to hunt, you leave and call robbers.
You want to harvest/mine/do something better/faster and you call your robber friends to take advantage.
I mean, why do we need this on Pangaea?
I've so far, tried to avoid these kind of behaviours all the time. Whenever i see a player who has a robber char or is somehow known with them. I usually drop it because i am 100% sure that he's going to be an asshole.
And under asshole, you can read the scenarios above.
But have you asked the real question, where's the fun in that for YOU and for the player who suffers under YOUR behaviour?
Thanks.

Still going on about that one situation Darian -_-. I already knew BoP were around and probably more Nox. Law doesnt accept help from robbers (in the same way police dont want viglante's running around doing their job). I made a call thinking that we'd kill you quickly then regroup back at town but we fucked up. Wasnt the first time and definately wont be the last that something goes wrong in PvP. If you had died there then it would be a completely different story. For that one situation that went wrong I can tell you theres been 10 more that have worked out, thanks mainly to my itchy trigger finger.
Your one of these people that get annoyed when someone doesnt go along with your way, you cant force people to RP in the way you want them too just because you personally think its better. Perfect example is when you tried to get Law to join up with Tekstone to attack Imperial (and probably vice versa) then had a good moan about it because we didnt want too.
Another funny event was when Tekstone 'captured' that etworm(?) guy and got so pissed off because we didnt rush to try to retrieve him. I thought Id fuel to the fire by coming up with my own RP that Law believed that Tekstone had turned the priest against us and that he should be excommunicated. I just about had time to make some popcorn and return to my PC, get comfy and await the show on icq. If I remember correctly, Quintoz was the first to indulge himself.
Let people do what they want. If someone wants to talk for 10 minutes or try to kill you after a quick one liner thats their prerogative. Imo niether is better than the other.
