Looting scripts

Player got jailed today for 7 days + marked for using looting scripts. It's a hugely unfair advantage to use them, so don't do it. As with macrocheck cheats, we have ways to quite easily bust players for these so definitely not worth to risk it, play fair.

Speed hacking, fast looting and macrocheck cheats are all monitored. Even if we (the staff) are not online, the shard follows and reports. When there are multiple violations (reports by the shard), it's a clear case and nothing will save your ass.

The current rules state that _fast_ looting scripts are illegal. Are scripts, which loot at the same speed as a player would, also considered illegal?

Yes. You're not supposed to use any scripts for looting.

Perhaps the wording of the rule should be changed then.

Edited.
"Using 3rd party programs to loot NPC or player is illegal and againts the shard rules."

A question though, what harm does a looting-script do in PvM?
I understand using them in PvP should be strictly forbidden and punishable, but using one in PvM doesn't hurt anyone, right? The loot on Pangaea is such a mess with so much "useless" stuff on the way that you can't really blame people for using a script to do it. At least I can never be arsed to loot any small items due to those reasons. You kill tens of small critters and all have few coins and reagents so at least I understand people using the scripts completely. Personally I don't see it any worse than a complicated and cool training-script.
Anyway, I don't really mind either way, but I think using them in PvM is something that should be thought twice before branding it illegal.

I agree with Darian but its easier just to ban it all together I suppose then have two separate rules for it. People will be scared of using it so less likely to abuse it. Just means everyone would have a looting script and gms would have to monitor pvp a lot to check for abuse.

Less rules the better, less supervising the better. Benefits of the more simplified version are greater than easier looting.

i'm afraid those are the reasons, but indeed, looting scripts for pvm should be fine and even encouraged to maximize "resource production"
and to save your index finger
but i understand the need for this rule because then gm's would have to look more at pvp and supervise more etc
