Hey everyone! Just wondering why we arent talking about donations for a dedicated server? It wont solve the crashing issue. But it might make people feel better about playing the game instead of sitting in their houses.

Well... we need to know the current server specs before we could even look into pricing a server. Dedicated servers get really expensive pretty fast. Also a windows license is pretty expensive each month.
example:

A decent server can be had for as little as $16 a month... but if you want to install windows.
Microsoft Windows Datacenter 2012 R2 French (64-bit)
Latest Windows Server version in its Datacenter edition.
This version only exists in 64-bits edition.
You don't need any licence key
This operating system is billed €199.99 per month pre-tax (no commitment, any month started is due)

If the staff is up for it we could migrate the uo server to a virtual machine and move it onto a dedicated hypervisor. It would be less than paying for a new windows license. As the playerbase is older i'm sure we can find a few people willing to donate $5 or less a month to fund the server. We could even host it in a public cloud. Now just to decide on a server location.

Let me just say that at this point we don't feel like we need a better platform, for now.
Once religions are up and most of the reforms are done we will ofc like to give a better quality of service to you all.
We discussed this already and decided that for the moment it's enough. Keep in mind, for us, we are still in a beta stage until we get all the intended functionality out.
But we will see and adjust accordingly.
