Tekstone's Raid on Britain

Post by ghoulsblade »

For me as a new player on pang, it was rather exiting and interesting to see a siege up close.

In the aftermath however it turned out that a friend of mine left the shard due to some things that happened during it.
I've played on the evil side on other shards as well, so i'm not at all for carebear land. Evil is neccessary for interesting gameplay.
But it maybe shows a few problems worth discussing in the interest of getting more players.

Problem 1 :

My friend was killed and banished to a random island because he was in the Clockmakers guild.
The reason i've heard is that Tekstone is aggressive towards the Clockmakers Guild as a whole because they refuse to trade with Tekstone players or something.
As a result he has lost his gear, but this is not the main problem.
Since they've been recruiting people that don't pvp, he just got caught in the fray for being in the guild,
which is kinda bad if you ask me. A war-declaration beforehand giving non-pvp players time to leave might be better.
The main problem here was that he mainly plays for roleplaying, and there was only minium or no rp involved here.
For something powerful like banishing, that prevents someone from playing until rescued, there should be much stricter requirements.

Problem 2 :

He also complained about powerful high piety spells being available with so little roleplay.
While it is a good thing that the religions are revived a bit, maybe the high-power stuff should be reduced until there are more players, or at least more roleplaying.

Problem 3 :

There were some people camping at Britain Inn saying "bow for dennac or die" or so,
he also complained very much about being humiliated like that from pvp players without any reasonable roleplay.

Problem 4 :

NPCs (healer:alchemy&newbie fighters like myself, vendors (reags, mages etc)) in Britain gone for several hours on the WEEKEND is bad
-> merchant-focused people can't play
-> they logout and do something else
-> bad for shard

Please discuss,
i'm a bit worried about the shard if this is considered the way it should be.

Clockmakers Union was showing off in the general rp sections and in return they got the worst of it, which is something he should exspect when running into his house and saying "I'll kill you when your friends not around".
It's kinda simple when somebody goes against a religon like Tekstone they have to understand that there will be consequences, maybe the banishment was alittle harsh but in the end shit happends.

"The clockmakers guild" itself didn't get the worst of it.
They're probably not even aware of this.
You just caught an unknowing recruit who joined them for fun.

It might be ok if you had hit the guild-leader or some high-ranking / well-known member,
but just hitting the first guy you see with the guildtag with such high-level stuff is just low.
With great power comes great responsibility, even for the evil side.
I thought this was a roleplaying shard, not some gank-town like uogamers:hybrid.

Not gonna argue what I did was wrong or not, but he should've asked the guildmaster if the guild has any enemys, if he can get in problems for having their tag and running with them.
Becouse when joining a guild even a merchant guild you should know what the repercussions CAN be.

If he'd asked me, I would have told him no. I don't know about any feud with tekstone, in fact I've personally done more business with them than any of the other religions recently. If there were aggression between us, and the person who got banished was causing problems, I'd say it's an alright use of the rite. If it was just on the grounds of an unestablished feud, it probably shouldn't have been done.
I don't think we need any new rules or anything, as the mechanisms in place would generally prevent this from happening. Guilds like ours that are disorganized and full of new players usually avoid making powerful enemies. As long as people make sure that their justification isn't made up.

Also, could someone tell me who got banished? If he's interested in coming back, the union will subsidize him good.

Quintoz is right it has always been like that, when you join a guild you inherit its enemies, that simple. If you don't want any enemies then you either join the right guild or stay away from all things bad.

I think your talking about that fella Kane? Well if you are camping in your house acting like all that. You will be in trouble.
There is no war between The Clockmakers and Tekstone. The members just happens to be in wrong place in wrong time. Well some members in The Clockmakers will get more attention then others. If they wanna RP their char like that Kane this happens.

"He also complained about powerful high piety spells being available with so little roleplay."
Don't know what you mean here.

Mean some people haven't played long enough/got their piety to easy?
Or just gotta roleplay before bannish?

1. Every high piety priest in tek deserves their current piety.
2. Bannished is always roleplayed. But in town attacks/siege, there is little time to stay and have a chat with people. We can bannish whoever we want in situations like that. No rule was broken during this attack.

"There were some people camping at Britain Inn saying "bow for dennac or die" or so,"

I can tell you that no camping at the inn happened. Inn is a good spot to make guards etc if you mean that.
"Bow for Dennac" Yes they can bow for Dennac. Join the fight to destroy all good in this circle. If you RP your char like a chicken he will bow only to stay alive. If you RP your char with some balls he will stand up for himself and not bow. I got some nice rp just from that little line many times.

What this topic should REALY be about. That's about the f***heads creating/logging a char and just throwing OOC hating on the Attackers. Yes it happened. I even think Zyppo saw it. That i am realy disappointed about.

Edit: Like Quint and Kent said. A merchant guild isn't a safezone. Rather the opposite.

don't pvp here :p

1) you can't loot (i have saved my stuff so many times because of that)
2) 3d is faster than 2d (i have died so many times because of that)
3) certain class("es") are just op (in PVP!) and get their op'ness boosted by just... jesus knows (i have attempted suicide irl 4 times because of that)
4) it always goes to personal ooc hatred because of haldric and such retards

Don't worry Haldric. Drylooting rules between religions will soon be in place. Have your gear ready.
If your Headpriest don't accept the rules. You can singlehanded accept the rules.

For the people who ain't in a religion. Can join a guild and jump into the drylooting fun!
And for the random peps. Anyone who participate in the PvP when these rules are in place. Will be drylooted!
