Boats!

Who has made a boat and a large dragon boat? I just made a large dragon boat and it took me a very long time just as Kenyon complained about it months ago. When is someone going to change this script?
1 large dragon boat needs:
about 10,000 boards (can u change the rate when logs turned into boards? like every 5 seconds u get 60 boards and not just 5 boards. I would rather take these 10,000 logs and turn them into 70,000 kindlings and sell them for 210K which is more profitable and less time consuming than making a boat)
250 iron ingots
950 bolts of cloth
250 yarn balls (why is this needed when there is bolts of cloth used?)
nails
small and medium boats are roughly 5000 and 7500 boards respectively, the other materials will probably be cut down to half as well.

So boats are now craftable? If they can't be bought from anyone else you can set the price to match the work. In one shard I played boats took a few months to make but their price was also at millions as there was only one or two made... also in this same shard the money was in a higher value as it was a lot harder to get.
Though, now due to the rarity of boats the decay-timer should be removed so one can park his boats in the Britain docks - the decay timer was originally added due to every shore being filled by boats.

well i can say you are the first one to build one.
nice going , there has been adebate about this on gm forum allso , and we never totaly desided how much was fair to build boats , since you did build one , what would you think would be the right ammount to build them ?.

I think the major issue i have is turning logs into boards not so much on the amount of materials. It takes roughly 5 seconds to turn 5 logs to 5 boards and it gets kind of boring after i finished 1000 boards and my backpack will be full anyways. So i come back the next day, do another 1000 boards and log out. So if i was doing a small boat which costs 5000 boards, i will be on this for 5 or 6 days.
Bolts of cloth can be cut down a bit too. 950 bolts of clothe is a little over what i anticipated so....500 bolts of clothe for large dragon boats?
Bottom line is i just did an extreme one where i want to see all the menu selections i have for the boats, small, medium, and large boats which apparently costs 5000, 7500, and 10,000 boards respectively, it seems reasonable but its the process that is very tedious and SLOW SLOW SLOW. So only 2 ways to do this depending on the scripting whichever is easier, either you crank up the rate that logs turn into boards OR you decrease the materials needed to half.

but how long would it take you in real life to build a boat ?.
i feel it should take some time to do , but we allready talked about reduce the amount of mats , needed to make the boat , but i still like it to take some time like cooking , there are things that takes time too.

Well, introducing the boat to allow carpenters to make was to give us have some profit. But at this amount of time and effort and being competitive with the vendor's price, I would just tell players to get it from the vendors because their price seems reasonable at this point.
Unless... GM's change the vendor price and let me sell it at their price...then i'll think about working on it. Just a thought because in real life, boats will cost roughly that price anyways in whatever currency that might be.
But i still have to complain about the log to boards turning rate...its just slow. even if you make it 5 seconds for 10 boards i will be happy.

With some help, such as buying materials from other class, it will cut down the time to make one. But it will increase the cost.
It is all about demand and supply. Right now the boats are still buy-able in the vendor shops. If players can only buy boats from carpenters, then the carpenters can set the price for the boat according to the cost and time consumed in order to produce one boat. Janilla, how would you set the price on the boat if they can only be bought from carpenter?

Like i said already, I will sell it at vendor's price and even a little higher.
a normal deed small furnitures such as anvil, forge, spinning wheels cost about ~500 logs. the price is 15,000 for each small furniture and i don't even need to turn them into boards. THis is the market price for all carpenters at current rate.
a small dragon boat costs ~5000 logs and needs to be turned into boards plus all the other materials that need to gathered. So mathematically speaking, i need 10 times more than what i need so the price i should sell at is 150,000K not to mention all the clothe and yarn balls and ingots that are required.
So GM's, i think you should raise the boat price or just remove this option from us carpenters and return the normal price for boats OR....whatever u think its fair to carpenters.

So you believe that everything with them would be fine if possibly we just removed boats from the vendors? Or do you think changing the amount of materials required would be better?

If you remove them from the vendor people will no longer expect the price to be relatively close to that, then giving carps control of the price. I do not have a carpenter personally but I believe that this would fix that problem, they could charge more.
