Havent tested the odds myself yet, but due to the failing chance. Might aswell add a "non-sacrificial" chance to transfer magical abilities from A cloth to B cloth regarding the tailor skills.
For example. "a tailor with 115/115 skills has a 60% chance to _not_ sacrifice the magical ability by 2 for the cloth change".
Yeah?

Seems fair, that would be a + to the now new - obviously. There was never a chance of the cloth being destroyed, so a "elite" percentage chance of the cloth staying the same prefix wouldn't be bad.

Heighten brings on no such benefit. Letting magical clothes to change slots already skews their economy in a bad way, this was a very needed addition.

WOW! A good idea from Zaradon! I... I'm... speechless and proud. This brings tears to my eyes.
Obviously, as this is the first and propably the last good idea from Zaradon it is a must we implement this!
Although, like Wille said, this idea by itself is not a good thing. I'd make a small change to the idea. You get to decide to either switch the slot and lose some magical power like it is now with very little chance of failure, or you can try to keep all the magic power with a 50% chance of failure. However, upon failure the cloth is destroyed and lost.
After all, otherwise we'd have indy shoes and half aprons too easily - which are the most wanted items. This also ensures a lot of indestructable clothes get deleted from the system raising their price a lot.

Very constructive.
It was just an idea now that clothes cant be looted. Yeah, sucks the fact they wont be destroyed from the world easily.
I've suggested a durability idea on all crafted items and aswell clothes. So there would be a better "hand-to-hand" market on clothes. If they broke easier, they would drop easier. If they would drop easier they would be re-swapped in slots more often which results in a sacrifice of the skill efficiency on the cloth.

Hey Zaradon! I was agreeing with you! Chill mate.
I still think the 50% chance of either keeping the whole power or destroying the whole cloth would be nice.

Guess I'll warn people before I change their slots then, just seems like a harsh way to get rid of some cloths in the world.

Back in the good days such option wasn't even possible. So why is this harsh? This whole thing is a boost to tailors and a way to make "Bad" slots useful - even if with decreased power.

Wrooooong. Boost to the cloth users. Fighters, magic users etc. Tailor dont get a big cut outa this anyway.
