There will be a dedicated server tryout within a week.

We have signed a one month contract with a german server provider. In every aspect (HW, connection, location) the tryout should top the current shard setup. I'll be paying for this tryout and hopefully this experience will be positive. If not, then I'll be throwing my money in a well - but at least we'll recieve crucial information regarding NA connections to Europe.

I personally don't care about the connection stuff, but I know lots of people do. You guys are awesome!

I still highly doubt that this is going to help the connection to NA, but it doesnt really hurt to try.

There'll be a difference, but is the difference big enough, is the real question.

If the difference isn't big enough, at least we'll recieve valuable answers to questions about hardware, connection and dedicated server.

If you want centralized (between Amurrica and Europe) hosting, Madeira Island, or even better, Azores!

It's more about the network than the physical location. Germany is clearly the best choice as it covers all the factors. Their network is top-notch, the location is actually better than now (Denmark) and the price-quality scale is convincing.

Small update on the situation:

We'll be running on the dedicated server earlier than I/we expected. The connection has already been created and Irming, as amazing as he is, is already setting up the server.

just curious; how much does this server cost / month? Want to give anything more detailed information about the HW and connection setup?

If it works well, i bet some of the players might be already up to donating for continuous use of dedicated server.
