buaha
thursday will be the day we realize that losing 4 0 against germany not only cost us 3 points but the chance of going through to the next stage

had it be a penalty for the tackle on eder, and had we scored, it would be 3 - 1 and we would only need to win 1 0 against ghana (which is still doubtful imo, we're playing like shit) :D

I realize it might not be very entertaining for you to be watching 22 men young enough to be your grandsons, but the rest of us are still about their age, old man. :P

i just saw greece vs ivory coast "penalty" that eliminated ivory coast...seriously what the fuck...these decisions have impact, even more when they dictate who goes through and who goes home...this world cup has been a disgrace when it comes to referees and other bullshit such has having the games at 1pm...i don't even know what to say except "fuck you fifa"

The past few weeks have reminded me well why I stopped watching the World Cup for a decade especially when England is concerned.

England population >60 million
Costa Rica population <5 million
Uruguay population <4 million

You would expect England having a larger population from which to select players from, would have better quality players for their team. Team England should perform a LOT better than they currently do... I find it excruciatingly painful people who fail so badly at their job are rewarded so much. A university student that consistently had 30% on their exams would be declared a failure and be removed from university. Footballers get paid far more than the troops that are sent to a war zone where true teamwork and skills are required to even have a modest chance of survival.

I'm thinking this is more of a societal issue where we give far more importance to footballers- shame on you!

Yes- they're not all tea-swilling obese yellow-teeth oompa loompas :\ I don't quite see how that would be an excuse either, it certainly hasn't prevented America to do well in the Olympics (barring the drug use).

blame fifa and blame the population of the earth

the only reason football is so well paid is not because it requires huge amounts of skill. it's because many ppl give money to the system

if ppl suddenly realized hockey is the best sport, or *gasp* curling, then curling players would be filthy rich, and the football players would just be normal sportsmen..

the same applies to pop music vs classic, or quality movies vs sunday afternoon reality shows, etc etc

that said, i enjoy the sport itself a great deal, but it pisses me off that so much money revolves around it. not to mention the issues with referees and bets and prearranged matches etc..but that is to blame on fifa, not football itself
