To be honest that doesn't sound like fun at all.

There problem is that for some reason there was a piety system change in the past. After you boys have had it easy for three years, it's hard to go back to the original system. If everyone rather go to the old system, it can be done. In wich case, you should all know the consequences.

We'll be seeing only HP's with big piety, a handful of players with 40 and others with 30. The possibility to reach 50-60 as non-HP is a long road of 2-3 years of active playing. Not to mention 70-80.

Let's make a poll then and see what poeple think...

This thread's steered way off topic. It should be noted that if we'll ever get to develop the shard further into one direction or the other, piety and priests will surely be a topic somewhere there, balanced along with other things if necessary.

Darian Darkmind wrote:My 80 piety back.

Some sort of scripted quest-like champion instances, that requires visiting many dungeons, gathering different 'reagents' to summon a champion, which then gives rare extremely good artefacts. There used to be a way to summon these hardcore monsters that gave special coloured items (+20/+40 skill clothes etc), but was very soon removed and items deleted after we grinded them.
I'm not understanding the interest with the piety system. The bottom line is that it's just piety and it can be earned back, it's just like items IG. If we have 30 piety as priests, A. it's better than nothing and B. our characters are still playable. Other people are going to other religions and foregoing their previous religion and starting from scratch. The reason the current piety system is in place now is because of low player-base and having one religion stacked with more piety than another is just ridiculous especially at this current date with our persistent <10 online player count.

Getting back ON TOPIC, the last suggestion you made is an interesting one. Perhaps instead of making a new champion/OSI style replica, we could fix the Adventurer Guild Master.

Without going into more details, it used to be through Adv. Guild that allowed you to create these supreme monsters. :P

I remember some of those ss of those monsters :D
Gif the details! It was deleted, so let us know what sort of magical/hidden crap you found in uo throughout the years :D

Tekstone finnish gang + hilda = Jacques Cousteau of UO :D

About the piety, Boris is right when he says we all earned our piety easily at one or other time. I'm not saying ppl didn't rp, the problem was they weren't active through all of it. I could have had 40 or more before, but I would definately not deserve 40 piety atm if we had the old system. Players would just receive more piety for rp and being active, but they wouldn't lose piety for being inactive. Darian did great stuff over the years, but even he (and everyone) was inactive for long.
80 piety would mean rping greatly, not for a month or two, but for years without stopping. Anyways, this was not the topic but I just wanted to say something about it.

Back to the adv guild master / special bosses with special items. It would be nice if we had a mega heightened (lol) class where we would only further our skill knowledge throw finding special magic items that would give us knowledge, or ancient books with knowledge in there, whatever. Or this could actually go to the actual heighten class, to stop the endless macroing all the time :S

It wasn't spawned through adv. guild though, but yeah, it was fun just like silver fiends and giant kings.

I'd like to find adventurer's guild quests more expanded...

Like static quests that requires gathering up materials or something like that and in the end receive a nice prize - could be only a piece of scroll with saying 'Congratulations, you've done the quest'.
Maybe even enigma quests. Something that doesn't need to clean whole dungeon, things that can be done on merchants as well.

I like the idea of having quests that are not just slashing and hacking through an entire dungeon, but the items do generally spawn on a few creatures and if you know the regular spawns to a dungeon you can get around killing most of them. I would much like to hear your ideas for different quests though :) you might have something interesting there.

Quest for merchants? Merchants are for making things not hunting i thought.... So i am sorry i fail to see the reasons why to give merchant quests. The only ones i could see would be to find a mystical tome or such to raise your skill level. (which wouldn't be fair to the fighter/magic user classes)
