Vehicle Knowledge

Is there anyone on these boards that knows a great deal about cars? Been working on mine for 3 days now. I was parked beside my dad talking to him when all of a sudden it stopped, and when I tried to crank it it wouldn't start back up. It would whine and whine but would not fire. I changed the ignition pak, a no go. Changed the crank position sensor, no go. Just changed the pick up inside the distributor, no go. Thats all I can think that would make my car not fire. Any ideas?

There is no spark from the ignition coil, so don't think it is the fuel pump. Something is keeping it from firing. Put some fuel directly into the intake manifold, so if it was the fuel pump it would have still fired.

Yes there is gas in the car.

No spark from the coil what so ever. I believe I may have it narrowed down to either, the ignition control switch or the ECU.

get yourself a '5 cents' and keep it near your coil.start the engine,if you seea spark between the cent and the coil, then, the problem is not your coil. look at your alternator.is the strap tighted well? is it in good shape?

There was no spark, I used a wire and ran it from the coil to a metal part of the engine, no spark. Changed the coil already.
