Breivik 21 year sentence

Anders Behring Breivik, convicted of killing 77 people in a horrific bombing and shooting attack in July last year was sentenced.

I find 21 years to be a joke, considering that's fewer than four months per victim. Taking a life deserves life in prison or simply punishable by death.

Here is the kind of "jail cell" he'll be living in...

Located in a prison outside Oslo in a three-cell suite of rooms equipped with exercise equipment, a television and a laptop, albeit one without Internet access.

The hell kind of weak government is this in Norway?

The maximum sentence for life is 21 years in Norway. Keep in mind that the sentence was with the clause that it could be prolonged if he was still considered a danger to society. If someone dosen't kill him inside, I highly doubt he'll ever get out. And keep in mind that he'll be isolated as well..

But of course. No punishment is too lenient for this guy. I was pretty shocked as well when I read 21 years. That's not even 100 days per victim. Insane.

Not just a Norway thing. Scandinavian laws and punishments are weak compared to AMURICA and mother Russia. It's a good and bad thing. In extreme cases clearly bad.

Well I read that's their maximum, I suppose I can't fathom why.

I'm practically "middle of the road" when it comes to party affiliation here in America. I do however hold some conservative views because of how I was raised. If you take someone's life, especially in this inhuman nature, you should definitely be punished by life in a prison(the rape kind) or by death. Hell, we all know most 'Muricans would want him in the electric chair. I'm not from that stereotype, but this calls for the best time as any situation.

I doubt he'll ever get out also, but he's living in someone provided by the government and much nicer than half of the world have to live in. This case is the most well defined definition of the word injustice you'll ever find...

I've always kept death sentences as an easy way out. Life in prison is definately the way to go.

I'm glad Breivik got the jail sentence and wasn't declared insane. He was just ill informed and ahead of his time.

I agree, of course my death penalty for people like him would be much more gruesome.

Anyone who believes in mass genocide due to race, religion or any beliefs. Well, they don't deserve to live on this planet, simply.

He was ill informed for a few reasons. Perhaps most obvious is that Breivik was full of anger aimed at Cultural Marxism and the Islamisation of Europe. At the same time he was pro-Israel and pro-Zionism. Makes about as much sense as the EDL.

He was ahead of his time because he comitted revolutionary acts in a non-revolutionary situation. William Pierce said the same about Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma bombing.
