Shadow_Nirvana wrote:How is it more of a fail then calling religions a crutch? Are rites the only thing that make you powerful in the game? By that logic if you're saying that religions are a crutch because they grant you extra power by rites, then I'll say that guilds can get you easier access to resources, making you more powerful. I don't believe that this is the right mind set, as there is actually people like Darian Darkmind and Orin and lots of other guys in religions who spend time RP'ing religous characters, dedicating themselves to them and I believe that should earn you the extra power of religion. Such as spending time RP'ing a newborn kingdom and dedicating yourselves to it, earns you the power to tax people to the hilt. :)
You are clueless, sorry.
The mere fact that someone can use a rite to just take his enemies out if you feel the fight isn't going your way should explain it all. He can fight fair until he decides the fair fight isn't going well enough.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA You actully pick Darkind and Orin as the poster boys?. Not enough laughter in the world.
Shadow_Nirvana wrote:Yes I'm clueless, it's definitely not fighting fair using rites.
I like their stuff. What can I say, I'm a sucker for both Law and Tekstone.
So it seems you are one of those newbies that does not know enough, to speak. Topic is over imo.
How about you give us your point of view? I was a happy newbie back in the day, now I have come back and I'm still a happy newbie running around.
There seems to be something in need of a fix. Or maybe not. Thing is there won't be any progress unless people talk about this stuff. So give us your opinion, man.

Darkmind is a guy who writes a lot of fiction and sometimes it's good, he's also creative and a good in game RP'er. People including myself just get annoyed because he thinks so highly of himself, so good choice.
For the balance, try to think of it as a knife fight. Everyone has a knife that is roughly equal and the outcome is decided by skill, tactics and luck. In our case a few combatants have guns they can fall back on if the knifing isn't going their way, of if they decide it's no longer entertaining. That is an imbalance that has become a crutch for low skilled players. Orin himself has admitted as much.
