The main reason is simply behind 4 parts vs. 5 parts.

Scale armors are (originally) just for plate users. Priests and barbarians would still continue playing with (at least hopefully) bones.
So if we replace plate armours with scales, you want priests and baba use bones aswell... Smiths make only weapons after that?
Also you cannot realy increase the AR any further for knights, its already ridicilious how impossible its to deal dmg on them. And as you've said before raising resistances is not an option either. (or another staff member)
So there is no place for scale armours in the top end atleast...

That doesn't make any sense though. Since to get us much resistances with an auropian chainmail set you still have to use atleast cloud giant or auropian sleeves. So really auropian chainmail set is also 5 parts. Doesn't make sense it's the metal armor with same effects that gives less ar.
Yeap, the main problem is simply coverage. Tunic eats 2 parts, coif eats 2 parts... so eventually a bone set with a gorget is 6 parts vs. 4 parts. Call it a +/- thing. You get cheaper sets for less AR.
Demian wrote:Auropian is the one that costs more and has less AR. It's really a +/+ thing when it comes to giant bone armors. Cheaper sets for more AR.
Kind of figured that could be misread. Generally referring to chain sets being only 4 parts instead of 5 parts (or 6 parts for that matter). If chain sets took as many parts, the AR would match if not top. But that's a different subject.
Otherwise I think Ivan got this. We just need to make sure the new ore doesn't completely run vampire bone markets down for Priests and Barbarians. So AR-wise we're talking of a Dspine/malachite-copy.
