Old Piety-system back?

Post by Darian Darkmind »

It has come to my attention that if enough people agree, we would possibly receive our good old piety system back. This means you get up to 30 piety through your HP and the rest through gameplay, RP, activity and what else all the way up to 80 piety - yey!

At the moment the piety is capped so that only a HP and a trustee can have over 40. This would put an end to it and instead of your religion status, you gain the power you deserve through your actions. You would no longer be dependant solely on your HP, instead you can play your own game and even gain piety beyond his - should you deserve it.

I believe this would also highly increase the RP standards of the shard as more people would want to earn more piety, forcing them to take real roles, take real actions and spend time and energy to make up RP. This is something that is needed. The religions used to be the faction that affected the shard the most, both through their RP and actions. Nowadays it's mostly PvM and PvP, because there's no need for any real effort of RP once you have your maxed 40 piety.

I don't see this actually hurting anyone as those who are stuck with 40, would be given a chance to go beyond that. I know some might think it would be player favoritism, or that your RP is unseen, but eventually your efforts are seen and rewarded. Which is of course better than what you get now, nothing.

So without further ado, what do you say?

Boris will say that we dont boost religions.
But i like the idea and as i remember 30 piety back then was better than 30 now? One thing i want back is religion hoping delay timer. Its really funny how people get kicked one day and the same day they want to join another religion. They have nothing to loose, 40 piety gain is pretty fast. If your changing religion for third time already, i would make piety gain veeeryy slow.

We have discussed this a bit between the staff. I'm for granting other players more than 40 piety through a voting on GM forums oldschool style, but as before it would require a lot of effort and activity from the character to be granted that and would be quite rare thing to do. If the votes on this poll are in favor of the change I could take the subject back to the GM forums. So go ahead and vote.

Also, naturally, what would count is only what we see nowadays and forward. What you have done in past 3-6 years ago wouldn't count anymore since the religions have been getting some serious overhauling and lot of things have happened and changed.

We can go to old system if a clear majority wants it. If so, then all 40 piety will go back to 30 piety. Also the SiC spots goes away.

We drop all to 30, but all who have the required altar days, will recive a vote immediately by the GM's. Just so all go by the same rules.

I guess I have to approve. I liked the old trustee system, but the climb towards the top has been made way too hard as it is with the current trustee system. If the HP has one IRL friend in the religion or something, 40 is as high as it ever gets. My ambition goes higher than that.

I vote yes and Mike is 100% right, if the HP has an irl friend forget ever getting over 40.

I'd say keep the current piety system so that people who aren't that good at RP still have a chance to get some piety in a reasonable amount of time and also evaluate people in GM forum for higher piety based on their RP efforts, so that indeed a player with great RP efforts could eventually achieve more piety than the HP.

People this is just going to benfit one class (priest) no offence to those who RP at high standard but this and the clean loot would kill off the shard. Plus I am not flaming, just saying.
