Bard,once you gm provo.Cheap like hell,and very effective in pvm.Only downside is their limited usefullness in pvp.At least i didn't ever see bard who wouldn't die fast in teamfights.

it's really hard to gm provo, and even harder now.Biggs wrote:fyi - provo sucks after nerf. BADLY!
and it sucks with the nerf, even if it's usable and "hey, look, two djinnis fighting eachother". it's nothing that a fighter char won't kill anyway. and it is so annoying and hard to provo harder monsters, that while you do it, the fighters have killed the fiends anyway..not to mention, it's hard to get the right situations.
bard is still overall very good in pvm, just lacks the healing thing, needs to rely on potions/wands.
the fact that a majority of the people chose the "fighter" class in the magic user poll shows a bit of how boosted magic users need to be in comparison to fighters.
mage and whoever can make elementals are a good addition to pvm.
druid, for the druid bless ofc.
monk, brings nothing to pvm that is specific his..at best he can spam healing rite like no one else since they have more int than priests
necromancer, specific pvm
in pvp
bard - the "allmighty" provo counts for shit. no healing in pvp = not good
mage - standard?
druid - druid bless
monk - support/good in law?
necromancer - kill/sacrifice
mage (surprisingly)seems to be easy enought to train, fast enough, regs are cheap, good in pvm and in pvp, i have no idea how good it is against all the 100 res spells priests. i suppose it sucks? so i guess the safe bet is mage?
Re: Best magicuser class;
Dont go saying bard sucks in pvp imo 160 str and maul works nicely with more effective healing than 85 healing + gheals, dont go forgetting group protectiong, blessing and reactive that bard can give to pvp situation. Realy good char and shouldnt be underestimated.
Yes wand + gheals is more effective than healing + gheals.
Oh and for hunting, imo recalling mauler is the best thing to use for clearing out door spawns. Even if you are a bit useless in dungeon (except group blesses that help a lot in larger than 4 man group) its still fun to play around with provo till certain point.
100 resist aint bad if you can be arsed to train it, makes bard pretty effective mauler in any situation.
But i would still say that if you want to play a basic caster choose monk or necro, only classes that use something else than summon fire elemental spell in hunting and both of them are realy effective in pvp also. Druid can kill pvp if needed and in hunting its realy good support/elly spammer.

Re: Best magicuser class;
PvP-wise a bard isn't the ideal class, but at least in the past a bard /w 170(+)STR + 100 tactics + maul did massive damage. Very comparable to Warrior class, except Warriors have full plates, more STR and 65 healing. Of course the next argument is how crappy 65 healing is, but I'm quite sure it's better than bards with 0 healing. Both classes are more or less a "hit&run" type in PvP. lets call bards a support class, that can surprise.

Mage is a good support class, one of the best.
