I have located the source of most problems with the 3.x clients, including the cliloc spam and several crashing issues. I have also found some solutions, however many of them conflict with some of the features AOS clients offer, which we currently support.

I'm currently investigating a solution that would support 3.x - 5.x clients with AOS features, allowing slow connections to use 3.x clients and ridding us of 3D.
