The air itself buzzes with energy

....In Britain it was as any other night. Merchants going about their evening routines, shutting down the shops, putting out cooking fires, sweeping up their daily messes, ending the hubbub to start again on the morrow. In the Southeastern sky was seen a dim green shooting star. This one seemed to go all the way past the horizon, not fizzling out after a second like most. Just as it started to cause curiosity, a small flash, barely visible ending the awestruck gazes. There it went. Gone. Everyone moved on with their night.
It was a warm foggy night in Buccaneer's Den. The mosquitoes were out in full force looking for any exposed flesh to sink their proboscis into for a drink. One of those nights to stay indoors and seal the shutters. Some were still out around The Pirate's Plunder, too inebriated from a night full of drinking with their mates to be concerned with the bloodsuckers.
The door from the bar flew open as someone exitted, knocking a nearby patron to his arse, "Ey mate, watch where yer goin afor I make a hole in your head!" he yelled as he struggled to get back to his feet drunkenly.
"Maybe ye shouldn't stand in the doorway you lousy good fer nothin.." the man started to mumble as he reached for his dagger. The man paused as he saw the stumbling man look up in horror, "Surely this lout can't be this afraid of me, he was ready to fight a second ago." he thought. He turned his gaze to see what the other man was looking at. As he turned around, his grip loosened, his dagger fell to the ground, and the man turned tail and ran.
The sky was lighting up with a green glow, a bright green object was hurtling right towards the island... No... Right towards The Pirate's Plunder itself!! "It's going to hit us!" the man screamed as he was still stumbling to gain footing. Brighter and more blinding the object got as it got closer and closer, so bright it was hard to judge size. The man curled up into a fetal position and cried out for his mommy just as the object crashed mere inches from his feet. The impact sent the man flying into a nearby tree, knocking him unconscious.
The sound of the crash had attracted other locals, some saw the shooting star, some just saw the green glow. Others saw nothing, but had heard the commotion. A small crowd slowly gathered around the impact site. The site itself was still thick with fog, smoke, dirt, and maybe... green stardust? There was an eerie glow about the area. The air itself started to feel like it was buzzing with energy. Small pulses were making the onlookers hair stand on end. It was slow, but rythmatic. Thump thump. Thump thump. Almost like a beating heart. With every thump the fog rushed towards the center. The greenish fog started to coalesce, it almost looked as if it was forming some sort of figure...
Yes.. yes it was! You could see it! It was slowly taking on a humanoid shape. As it seemed to gain more solidity, the bright glow died down. A man in a gilded green robe stood before them. The man stood there looking down at the ground. Slowly he lifted his hands to his face to rub some sight into his fuzzy eyes. He then lifted his gaze to meet the onlookers. A smile crept across his face as he opened his mouth, "Hayabusa has arrived..." he said with a bit of mirth. Suddenly in a column of fire the man was gone.
Did this really just happen? Was this real life? Was it going to be forever?
Sadly the story would probably end there. No one would believe the drunken pirates, if they even remembered what happened on the morrow.....
