Chain tunics woould just make it easier to produce armor while making Barbarians slightly tougher, it's a nice clean fix.

an acceptable reason of opinion, but fighters do have them and its not going to change. Its a boost that works

Considering votes there will be no change, just cant help but hold grudge on priests now. Religious bastards cant handle anyone else using chain suit!

We haven't heard many comments from people voting no.

Perhaps someone could throw an opinion?

Imho I think there is no need for this change. If not broken...

The reasons for me to think this is probably as valid as someone thinking there is the need for the change. Based on the assumption that high strength gives higher chance for higher hit I think we need to have the counter part of higher risk, in this case the armor is the risk. But stating the obvious, everyone knew from starters that barbarians have less armor than other chars so putting them to higher level will probably (even if just a little) make things unbalanced for other classes.

All classes have their pros and cons, I think we are risking nowadays to make classes lose identity if we try to only compare them PvP/PvM wise. A Barbarian in this case imho shouldnt be even on the same plate as warriors on PvP, they could be equally deadly but in different ways. What I mean is, a barbarian should be feared due to their high hits, but thats about it PvPwise. The warrior in other hand should be also feared (if strength has much impact, he will have a tiny less damage than warrior) but on other hand can sustain more hits due to his armor. PvMwise however I see a barbarian being more effective than the warrior (and thats how I think it should be).

To sum it up, the barbarian has the most damaging hits on the shard, thus, should have the more risk.

For me at the most RP level, barbarian should walk on studded, but I do understand that studded might be over the top (unless studded is boosted).

A fix, if you really want to increase the barbarian armor should be, increase a tiny bit the ringmail armor and leave the gear type as it is.

The barbarian has "a-okay" (Yes i stole this word from Boris!) hit against everything whereas some classes overwhelm the barb in some manners, such as fast hit, ranged attacks. They dont need to melee when they can range the critters from distance, only fear can be spells which can also be negated by reflection potions/speciefed armor type.

Barbarian armors are not designed for such types for close melee. i've tested this and that, but the barbarian suit makes it close to be a warrior, but a warrior with 130 str.

EDIT; And no, considering the missrate for a close-range melee class the barbarian hit loses his reputation due to his speed.
The hit can be "good" but never the best since it's slow and you may expect 3 incoming spells before you land the next hit on the caster but the hit has also a 75% chance to actually hit.

I dont even care to argue about it anymore, just drop them to leathers only or even better no armour at all! That would be awesome balance since they have the HIGHEST DAMAGE. Which is so simply blindingly awesome that players that dont play barbarian recognize its power even if they've never seen a barbarian before.

This topic is done on my part.

You could do some "Assassins and leathers" -like testing.
  • Barbarian set vs. full chains
If the difference between studdeds and archer set was small, the difference between a barbarian set and full chains will be even smaller. In such a case, full chains isn't the answer to your problems.
