That's something that I'm open to considering. We'll have to see how things play out first with the existing skill books. It depends on the skill too, .1 poisoning is much more valuable than say .1 peacemaking.

When it comes to gaining 0.1 in non-heighten gains, I think depending on how frequent the drops are, the time it takes for one to kill the mob to get those books, should be equivalent to the time you'd normally spend sitting on your ass, grinding away with UOLoop. I'd rather people have to actively play the game and get some fun for the gains than sit on their butts just grinding, but some people prefer the latter, in which case the options should still be there ._.

I see the books as basically a way for me to put a couple points in skills I do not feel like macroing.. Though you guys with every char heighten.. sucks to be you I guess?

Or the really difficult time consuming skills like.. oh IDK lockpicking? Already found a master book for my picker (Go me)

Hmm, well alright. I'll check out this drop rate first I guess, just seems logical to make them a whole point up until 100. There are so many random skills that can drop I guess this method could end up working as well, just will be a flood of books.

tbh i don't agree with the whole point
first, we have christmas rings for that. secondly, i'm sure we'll be flooded in skillbooks any time soon. and if boris knows there's mobs that drop legendary books for sure, there'll be mobs that do so for master and stuff. also, like someone said, .1 in lockpicking or .1 poisoning may be very useful.
sure, those other skills won't have much market value, but then again, imagine it as a few extra k you gain from that monster.

also, about what eddy said, i think it in fact should be "faster" (if you could somehow take out the random factor of it) than macroing. first of all, we should encourage pvm over macroing just for the sake of activity. second of all, macroing is safe and easy, hunting is "less safe" and not as easy, so it should have better reward (.1 in less time). althought we can also argue that, with books, you can have the same result as macroing + loot, so with that in mind it's fine if it's not faster to find a book than to get .1
and to get .1 in YOUR desired skill through hunting faster than through macroing, we'd need to find books in every single mob, and even that wouldn't be enough lol

Skill books will never be as fast as macroing, because you're continuously using a singular skill. When you go out hunting, you use a handful of different skills and you may find books - that'll extend that list even more.

What comes to those ancient skills books - yeah - you might be lucky and find a book for one of your 3 heighten skills, but the chances are small. On the other hand, there's a big chance someone else can use it (may it be a merchant, fighter or a magic user) and that's when money starts talking.
