The new character restoration policy
Hi!
Just thought we should have a little Q&A about the character restoration policy thing.
First of all, no characters from banned accounts will be restored. Secondly, no items will be restored or given.
Here's the usual procedure:
- You PM a staffmember with the request. Please include an estimation of when we can find the char. None of us want to look through 3000 backup files.
- If the char was deleted before 2012, Irming needs to boot up the old server and check the backups on it so the processing time may be a little longer.
- You hear back from us telling you wether or not the restoration is possible (found the char, wasn't banned and such)
- You donate some moolah
- As a thank you for the donation one of us restores your character
Any questions? Comments? Concerns?

Re: The new character restoration policy
so hmm..
i could, technically, have a very good char, decide to try something else, delete that one, get another one, and give a little donation everytime i wanna switch back and forth?
why not just use those donations money to give those accounts a 6th slot (can't even remember why that wasn't allowed) or a 2nd account (what's so wrong about a 2nd account?)

Re: The new character restoration policy
You probably can't get 6th slot because of client limitation.
Anyway, a 6th slot is another reason for you to mule, we don't want that now do we.

And Glaurundis, you could do that, and we did discuss it but doubt it'll be an issue. If it becomes an issue we'll have to make some policy about it of course.. It's still early days

Can I donate and get other ppl's char back (to their own accounts, ofc)?

What if you were formerly on staff? Would that count as a ban?

Sounds good to me.. I'm tempted to have you look and see if there's a blacksmith on my old account - but at the same time I'd probably be embarassed to find how poorly trained and noobish all my old chars are =P

Re: The new character restoration policy
First of all, in my nit picking ways, this is not a donation but a service as I had said in the other thread that is now locked that brought this idea to the forefront.
I have mixed feelings as I do not like the idea of someone rage quitting and deleting their characters and than being able to come back as if nothing happened.
How does this work though, I assume you are going to get a date from the player of when to look for his character and you are going to check it against his account notes to make sure he hasn't failed a macro check or had any other infractions after the date given you by the player and check it against more recent files to make sure nothing is fishy?
Also, are they for instance, unguilded/religioned and spawned in Britain or are they spawned where they stood at the time of deletion?
As I said I have mixed feelings about it, I hate people who are too immature and rage quit and delete their characters and try to get them restored because 6 months down the road they have finally decided they made a big mistake because they want to return to Pangaea and want to pick up their life on Pangaea as if nothing has happened. I guess I am the only one that feels this way thus far in the previous posts. I was very vocal about this in the other thread that Iktomi made a few months back.

I kinda agree with Cyrus but well.. If we get some old players back like this I guess it's not so bad.
