If its DMG - AR = actual dmg taken, armours wouldnt be even close as effective as they are currently. You must've mistaken something completely.

That's again due to coverage. If you're being hit to a slot that's not protected (head, neck, body, arms, hands or legs), the hit comes with full force and most likely critical.aldath c'om wrote:but higher ar gets u hit less. ie. go naked sparr or go sparr in auropian plates.
If you're crit-hitted to the head, neck or hands - you die, end of story. It doesn't matter if you're wearing gloves that give 1 or 5 AR. The lesson being, always invest in effect (blocking, damage reflect, whatever) instead of AR.

Sounds like a very flawed system...Cirius Do'Brim wrote:If you're crit-hitted to the head, neck or hands - you die, end of story. It doesn't matter if you're wearing gloves that give 1 or 5 AR. The lesson being, always invest in effect (blocking, damage reflect, whatever) instead of AR.
If this isn't one of your famous trolls and it really is so, then the armors without effect should have their AR greatly boosted especially in the weaker spots.

If all slots are covered, the chance to actually hit hands, neck or head is very small. If the chances were higher, you all would be insta-killing each other all the time. Is that the case? Nein, hammerzeit.Darian Darkmind wrote:Sounds like a very flawed system...
Considering the same system has been used since launch, I'd say it's flawless instead.

I really dont believe that AR does nothing because wearing armor like say normal chain compared to dskull chain is drastically different in the amount of damage you take.

If normal iron tunic gives 10 AR and dskull tunic gives 30 AR, the difference in damage taken is only 20HP.Cruxis Bane wrote:I really dont believe that AR does nothing because wearing armor like say normal chain compared to dskull chain is drastically different in the amount of damage you take.
But then there's that game changer, that Ivan mentioned about. Religious buffs.

So without wearing a full set, I'd get hit to arms, legs and head more often? Weird system.Cirius Do'Brim wrote:If all slots are covered, the chance to actually hit hands, neck or head is very small. If that's the case then it's worth using a full set, otherwise only a tunic since that 1-3 AR from your weaker spot won't matter at all damage-reduction-wise.
Unless, of course, you go for the effect in which case using all slots is important.
[Edit] If the damage calculation is Damage - AR, using D'skull tunic with rest of the set made of iron (or better yet, valorite) compared to a full D'skull set would have a very small difference in the damage received.

.
But still I'd choose effect over AR. For example dspine plate set with stone giant hides and a dust ostard means over 50% chance to block. That's cheap and efficient compared to dskull.
I think dskull tunic + other parts something else is a standard nowadays. Although, I'd recommend tunic + legs and other parts something else. Those 2 parts receive something like 70% of all incoming hits.Darian Darkmind wrote:If the damage calculation is Damage - AR, using D'skull tunic with rest of the set made of iron (or better yet, valorite) compared to a full D'skull set would have a very small difference in the damage received.

Considering that some of the players know the scripts (e.g, the AR one), how about it's clearly published to the rest of the playerbase also?
