Discussions about the new PvP rules
Thoughts? Loopholes? Etc?
Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
So if i got this right...
To start a pvp event, instead of writing the usual "Halt !" you now use the .halt command?
After that comes the rp part...
Now an example, that i guess its a loop hole.
A robber arrives at aznars rune keep, he .halted B person. B person runs to city. The 15 seconds allows B to safely run to town.
Can't the command have something like... If target moves x tiles then the A person is allowed to attack?

Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
i added something on this to the pvp rules on the main page.
The .halt is only to be used when you run across someone, instead of yelling out "halt" wich can be visable or not on the other persons screen and journal this makes it clear to both parties whats happening where.
During a chance encounter with your mortal enemy and both parties stop, no reason to use it, you just yell at eachother like you usually would then proceed to murder eachother.
Edit: also, i like the "previous cases" thing only comment on it other than that is to make sure its anonymous,

Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
One question about the rules: If Iktomi kills Ares, who will be Ares complaining to?
You are not obligated to use it. That will make the attacker have proof to deliver to GM's that he ensured in conversation before attacking. If you're too close to town, might want to do it the old way instead of giving your victim a 15 second free pass. That's what I gathered from the rule.Biao wrote:So if i got this right...

Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
I think that .halt command won't work. It only adds to the difficulty of the killer when he has to use .halt on the victim while trying to chase and even after that wait 15 seconds which gives the victim plenty of time to run away, even get dgated, or convoed etc while the killer can't even attack.
But if it doesn't HAVE to be used, then it's fine I guess. Just makes me wonder why it was even added in the first place though.

Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
If I understood correctly that .halt is still under development... But I agree that moving 20-30 tiles from the position after being halted should be enough to make an attack legal. 15 seconds of chasing leads quite far from original position already afterall.
Otherwise I didnt see big faults in the rules, they were mostly rephrased so I cant realy tell if there was loop holes.
EDIT: Oh yes, can I still RP and kill noobies (not loot), since it aint mentioned in rules?

I don't think I've seen anything but "no" or negativity from you to anything.Demian wrote:I think that .halt command won't work. Yes it might add to the difficulty of the killer. So what? That's not a bad thing.
No he doesn't have to wait the 15 seconds nor is it a rule. But its good practice, and leaves 0 doubt.
If he recalls or whatever, feel free to attack.
And like Ivan says, the command is being observed and is under development.
Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
What about my question? Can I go running around brit and killing everyone, for obscure reasons that fit my chars RP? No looting obviously.

Re: Discussions about the new PvP rules
so, this command is supposed to be used _only_ (should you choose) when the victim starts running?rules wrote:In the case of the victim running, you should use the .halt command. This will give the victim 15 seconds to stop running away, during this time you cannot attack them, but after the 15 seconds (there is a clear message stating when this is) you are free to engage in combat. Once the player has stopped running, normal RP reasons must be stated before the attack, as per usual. In these circumstances, the attacker should provide a screenshot of the commands time having run out before any hostile actions are taken, such as spellcasting or usage of holy rites.
shouldn't you just be able to go there and do the .halt as soon as you want to start robbing/attacking someone?
and then that gives 15 seconds for him to answer, yadayada.
if this is really to be used only after the victim starts running, isn't it just basically making everything as it is right now, except victims have 15 safe seconds to run?
also, it says you can't take hostile actions, but can you precast something? (AFTER the .halt command)
i understand that a spell or a rite, even if you don't target anyone can be seen as an hostile action already on the other rules, but what about now?because if we can't do anything and the guy starts running away and we still can't do anything before 15 seconds... plus those 3 second to do .halt and target his gump...etc
