That's how we feel about Tekstone, but appearently that philosophy wasn't good enough so you tried to take over. 26 players no longer want to be in nature and that is why we need a fifth religion?
I would rather point to why that is the case and try to fix that rather then to make a whole new one to them, and I know you have already tried that Palma but as it is now there are 3-4 active players and clearly things that needs to be done to it but to just drop that and try make a new religion dont really seem like a good way to go.
For what point do we have nature then?
Besides that I would not want the shards story to change based on something that is just out of character. I think the players should adjust to the world they play in and not the world around them no matter on how many they are.
As you already decided to take it to the extent to introduce a whole new religion, would it not been a better to make a few changes to nature instead of leaving it inactive? I would find that as a better solution.

That is just it, the shard should not change something as major as a whole new religion because of the amount of players, would I be able to have a sixth religion if 30 players joined me? If so it would simply not be a good way to take the shard forward and I can honestly say that I would not log on just to fight you and even less likely to try recruit anyone to it. If I just wanted to just pvp for the sake of pvp I would not have chosen this shard to begin with.Palma wrote:Unless you're willing to provide a solution to where these 26 players who want to play with one another should go, I don't see how you can be against this 5th. I agree with Shednil, if the problem is that you feel pvp can not be done in nature even with your 26 active players then that definitely needs a fix, as 26 players should be able to stand a chance against any other religion with the current population state and this should have been spoken of more openly.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
Well that fix on Nature doesn't depend on me. So I can't talk about that. All I know is that I tried for many years for Nature to change. Had my share. I myself, don't want to play Nature anymore. Need something different and that's all there is to my actions.
I'm sure everyone feels that there's better ways. But everyone also never knows the whole details. All you guys know is what those who talk louder tell you. Like what Mike just said, if we don't argument (which we don't, cba), you'll all just think what he said is true.
But fact is, only those who are at the terrain which is the staff, knows the whole story and decide to act the way they think best for everyone. Remember that you can argument because they allow you to, but ultimately, you guys should respect their decisions more. Instead of just instantly deciding that they didn't ponder their decision.
Shard needs something to spice things up, only players who went there were players that had no where else to go, it's a group of players that brings activity to the shard wherever they are. Sounds like the very best decision to me if you want to decide something that doesn't harm others or seems like taking sides. If some religion dies of inactivity then, then that's the one that should be deleted. Not one where active players are having fun, be it new or old.
Unless we're all just too fond of the things that are there for the longer time rather than new exciting ones. Then it will die.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
There is a reason why majority of ppl dont agree to changes. The previous Pangaea staff would post about ideas and changes to make and give ppl time to adopt the possible changes, may ppl like it or not. Ever since Boris left, I personally feel it is the end of some good tradition. Changes can be good but I dont feel Pangaea is ours anymore because staff just decide and make sudden changes on their own. We still have things that need to be fixed, old or new (townstone?)
Take this new religion for an example. We cant help but feel this is a half-thought-of idea since no one has an idea of why its there or how it is going to work. Things are not set and it is reasonable ppl in other religion who waited for a fix would fail to see it being a miraculous solution? If the staff is clear what they are doing, I am sure an early hint or notice and let ppl discuss about it would be a more welcoming opening to it? The lack of consideration and seemingly-rushing action will bring nothing but uncertainty and doubt for sure.
I am not against the idea, nor change, but the principle of it and the order in which things are done are not right.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
The problem comes from the system itself rather than the players. It was often spoken about over the years to 'zerg' a religion but the requirements and conditions for it to be succesful always seemed unreachable - its taken 9 years for this to happen for good reason. The downfall of the staff (and all previous staff members) is that nobody has ever considered what to do if it actually happens.
Personally I dont think staff should have changed the automatic HP vote in the middle of all this. I agree with a lot of what Teks are saying that its shitty RP to just stay in a locked house ect but 26 players had a plan and executed it very well and within the shard rules. To then move the goal posts half way through once they had all fully committed isnt fair and could possibly have led to the loss of 26 players which I guess is why staff have offered them an out with a new religion. The shard is a numbers game at the end of the day and you have to keep the numbers high enough to warrant the amount of time and effort staff have to put in to keep the shard going.
Ultimately I think the new religion will cause staff much more of a headache than if they would have allowed the hostile takeover of Tekstone to go through. Instead of 5-6 players being very unhappy and possibly quitting everyone on the shard is now anxious about a new religion and the tome balancing act that comes with it.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
The staff changed the HP vote in the middle as they noticed the problem. Most likely because that the way things were going was unfair to the "old" Tekstone as there was nothing they could do because "26" players joined with little/no rp and then were simply sitting in their house waiting for piety until they could vote for a new headpriest, surely even from your perspective you can see the problem with this kind being left to happen?Masano wrote:Personally I dont think staff should have changed the automatic HP vote in the middle of all this. The GMs stated:
There's a number of factors we'll be looking for in determining the eventual winner including:
- Overall RP quality and quantity of material produced by both the leader and their respective members
- General day-to-day RP behaviour
- Cutting ties with other religions and proving commitment to Tekstone
- Success in combat against the other faction (fairer combat is more likely to any sort of meaningful impact)
This shows that the GMs present a fair way a way for either side to win it with 3 of the points involving RP which is perfectly possible for even low piety priests and also the GMs mentioned fairer combat was more meaningful e.g. even if we had killed the other sides 10/20 piety priests it would not have been meaningful unless say it was 2 vs 10 etc.
but yes we have ended up off topic I just thought I should clarify some things and not everyone may have known the factors the GMs said they were looking for to determine the victor.

And you know this how? Are you staff? Were you there in the field? Cause if you ask me, I'll tell you a whole different story. That's why the staff makes the decisions, not us.Siren wrote: The staff changed the HP vote in the middle as they noticed the problem and that the way things were going was unfair to the "old" Tekstone as there was nothing they could do because "26" players joined with little/no rp and then were simply sitting in their house waiting for piety until they could vote for a new headpriest, surely even from your perspective you can see the problem with this kind being left to happen?

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
Huh when did I say I was staff, its simply obvious that the staff did this because they saw a problem? If they did not see a problem they would not have changed it.
By the way what field and sure I do not mind if you want to tell a story I am listening.
If you are talking about me saying that you were sitting in your house, I read your roleplay that you posted that is how I know, no need to get so defensive about me posting my view of things, its just that all the roleplay of yours that I read was taken from inside your house more of less.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
Not sure if it has been asked yet, so - does Oblivion oppose any of the current religions? (i.e, oppose in a way that'd prevent people with religious alt joining)
