this please, its way better than closing + if we nuke them, we have unlimited time to look for new scripter for our shardMaximilian Lhoth wrote:Yeah, just completely nuke out broken stuff rather than close the shard.Bella Pious wrote:Can't we just undo the new changes that are broken and leave it be with less new problems? I do see a lot of players returning, many of them pretty good roleplayers, or at least ppl who enjoys roleplaying.

Re: Important: The Future of Pangaea
We are talking about the sustainability for the shard. We have 6 months funding,no new additional content and no way to fix any future bugs. Simply removing broken content will not fix our situation.
And naturally, as staff we want to be able to provide new content and attract more/new players - something we cannot do with the current POL as it's so ancient.
I for one do not enjoy switching between players whilst sat in their houses macroing because they have nothing better to do.

Remove the currents bugs by removing the mayor system and go back to vanilla siege system. No need to throw in the towel. Then we have 6 months to think of a solution.Dante wrote:We are talking about the sustainability for the shard. We have 6 months funding,no new additional content and no way to fix any future bugs. We are in this situation every fricking year. Playerbase going up and down. Lets just rock Pangaea for another 6 months and see if the players are dedicated enough to do something.
Law, take back your fucking cities.
Imperial, you forgot Vesper.
Telborea shall destroy you all then party at Serp with pirates.

by nuking we wouldnt have to come up with solution for situation today or tomorrowDante wrote:We are talking about the sustainability for the shard. We have 6 months funding,no new additional content and no way to fix any future bugs. Simply removing broken content will not fix our situation.

what comes to the new content i havent seen anything like close to this we have in pang on any other server, this means its still possible with current POL, and actualy bella is right about many old players returning so its not that bad. summer is summer, people tend to leave on summers
so yeah i would like to see option number 1, that we look for new scripter...
what comes to new run uo thing, honestly i fear this will become pang 2 if we decide to do that
Re: Important: The Future of Pangaea
Its not about having nothing better to do generally, its about needing to max so many skills before you can do much at least it is that way for me.Dante wrote: I for one do not enjoy switching between players whilst sat in their houses macroing because they have nothing better to do.
Secondly as was mentioned earlier there are a lot of player that would most likely be willing to help out with scripting however they want to continue as players, it may help the future of pang if there was a way for them to help.
Third regarding player population I do know that a number of players have either started playing or restarted playing recently including myself.
Finally as to switching to a runuo platform it would require a lot of work so if this was going to happen it may be a good idea to accept volunteers from among the playerbase to help set up and design it until it is ready and then they can be demoted back to the status of players.
Re: Important: The Future of Pangaea
Maybe its time to recruit player scripters, who gets to keep their player account.

Re: Important: The Future of Pangaea
The Pangaea community is important, and if Pangaea is shut down, where should we move? Anyone know of a good shard?
How about a TEAM of playerscripters. Brainstorming team. I already mentioned it.
What about money issues with a small playerbase? If I'm correct, it's 744 eur / year and "average donator" people like me who donate approx 20 eur / year, it'd take 37.2 such people to pay for that.
Btw, does the 10 eur / character restoration thingy work anymore without Ares or did it require Ares' special knowledge?

The Mmorpg Darkfall: Unholy Wars. Basicly like UO but not old as hell.Maximilian Lhoth wrote:The Pangaea community is important, and if Pangaea is shut down, where should we move? Anyone know of a good shard?

Re: Important: The Future of Pangaea
Well I voted for the 2nd option, after a lot of thinking about it. Well maybe not enough thinking and viewing other peoples comments first. However, as much as it would hurt to lose our character if option 2 were a complete nuke of everything. We'd lose them regardless if Pangaea were shut down, in option 3.
So let's at least explore in option 2. My brother can script RunUO stuff. I'm sure there's others out there you's could find. An idea if we were to do a complete nuke of accounts and property. Allow AFK macro'ing for the first either A) 6 months of development or B) 12 months of development. Remove that annoying macro-check. It's making me have to wear glasses, I swear! Maybe it's time to update and get with the times if we're really wanting to attract more players and allow further advances in the game-mechanics.
It has been fun playing on Pangaea, if it were to get shut down. I'm hoping to at least heighten my Bowyer so I can say I've lived a fulfilled life and owned my first heightened. Even though I first started Pang during beta-phase stages. I do certainly take a lot of breaks! Everyone makes Pangaea what it is and nothing I say here is to mean any harm to anyone. It's been quite enjoyable over the years.

Re: Important: The Future of Pangaea
The thing is, it has to be old as hell or old-fashioned. Preferably UO with class system. Long history, decent playerbase. I'm 30 (okay, childish for one) but my age can be seen in my preferences. Morrowind is the most modern game I've played.Johnny Walac wrote:The Mmorpg Darkfall: Unholy Wars.
