I've been trying to get him since basically this project started and we just haven't been able to line up, seems like it may finally be sorted though!Vaux27 wrote:Sheesh. Take Cyrus, he knows what he's doing.

Re: New blood
I've been talking with Iktomi and got the invite. Sorry all for the spam I have thrown in this thread about grandiose ideas partially formulated by Ivan and myself.
I've thought of a neat system for lore and what not, instead of having walls of texts, why not have an in game library system where we as players can check out books to learn about local, regional and world lore. Perhaps with a way later on down the road to offer players a chance to publish books and be stocked in libraries in game. Needs some work but I think it is a good idea that could be worked on and will enrich the Pangverse in terms of lore and RP.
Personally I think using some of the past lore is good but some of it just doesn't work, what I'd really prefer is a clean slate but I don't think we will have that in terms of lore. But having just walls of lore means most people can not be bothered to read all of it or any of it, so I think discoverable in game content offering tidbits of lore as opposed to having it all in your face out of game makes the game as a whole much more enjoyable for the player.

Re: New blood
current pangaea history and lore does not consist of anything else except the religions and gods and circles and everything a bit too overboardly large to comprehend or basicaly have any affect for the game itself, they are just reasons why the things are how they are.
I'd much more rather have some more content concerning the history of monsters or cities and everything else that exists and has been created on pangaea. How did britain come to be? trinsic? who created minoc? Why do undeads live in hythloth? What is the history behind praetorians? How about shaboolies? (Cyrus can answer that last one perhaps in future)
When I sent my GM application approx 6 months ago, these were the points I wanted to improve on pangaea, but that application was put on hold due runuo project. Ofcourse my point of view is that these lore informations should hold some sort of value over gameplay suchs as giving tips of locations perhaps? weaknesses of monsters? etc. There is basicaly no limit how far you could improve the content pangaea offers compared to the current.
Hopefully along with runuo pang these points of pangaea will be fixed along with improving the actual history of pangaea so that it is recorded. Who knows nowdays of Order of yshoshor, which used to be large enough guild to rival a religion? Exorsus Nox? or The Northbound?
Why havent these progresses in the history between players been recorded anywhere, these are the things that should be added to history of pangaea perhaps? Not in the size of "gods and ubermaximus winchester beating shit out of everyone", but simple stories of the guilds created by the players perhaps?
Sorry for the wall of text.

Re: New blood
I agree I would like to see instead of a grandiose story of "creation of the gods and their imminent Circles of Cycle" to see a more refined, poignant history encompassing not just the gods and why we should obey or disobey them.
Making this stuff not just discoverable on the website but also in game will give people to explore and discover new exciting corners of the Pangverse.

Re: New blood
This part is as important as other aspects of the lore. The fact this is so far the only lore is what saddens me. This can be enriched by more common, recent and local history. What I'd prefer is to see own sections for 1. Ancient History: The Creation; 2. Old History: Britannia, Towns; 3. Recent History: Guilds, Law, Imperial, Tekstone and Nature (basically the last 10 years of actual in game events); 4. Present: RunUOIvan wrote:current pangaea history and lore does not consist of anything else except the religions and gods and circles and everything a bit too overboardly large to comprehend or basicaly have any affect for the game itself, they are just reasons why the things are how they are.
I once wrote a lot of stuff about these. Why praetorians war against everyone else etc. Not sure where I placed it though. That said, yes I agree. Why is Snake Pass called Snake Pass? Why doesn't Serpent's Hold or Buccaneer's Den have guards? Know what? Go write your ideas!I'd much more rather have some more content concerning the history of monsters or cities and everything else that exists and has been created on pangaea. This is the player's fault. The guild and players itself writes its history, not the Staff. Though I agree there should be a place on the webpages/own section on the forums where players can place their own written lore and history (similar to character biographies)Hopefully along with runuo pang these points of pangaea will be fixed along with improving the actual history of pangaea so that it is recorded. Again, because no one writes them down? You can't expect Staff to write it. When I was a player, I wrote down the stuff that mattered to me... which might be why we have so much lore and history about gods and more recent history about Tekstone from Taloon Figaro to Borex, and from Nefer Daedeloth to Darian. Sadly there's no place to put this other than the forums, which eventually means all of it is lost. Why havent these progresses in the history between players been recorded anywhere, these are the things that should be added to history of pangaea perhaps? What I'd like to see is a library of lore similar to Palma's Lorendia shard. You can take a peek here. I guess we all agree it would be nice to have such lore and history, yet it seems most of you expect that "someone else" writes it.
Re: New blood
i guess i haven't really thought about it like this, but i think i must agree with ivanIvan wrote:

Re: New blood
perhaps the non-religious chars would get lore too, if the rp rewards wouldn't be just for them?Dawn wrote:which might be why we have so much lore and history about gods and more recent history about Tekstone from Taloon Figaro to Borex, and from Nefer Daedeloth to Darian. even when the rp system stopped going all the way up to 80 yada yada, rp started to exist in a much lesser degree of quantity and quality (except for a few players who always roleplayed well and stuck with it)
Re: New blood
Yes it is players fault why the pangaea's history for guilds or w/e has not been recorded. But imo the staff could encourage the creation of stories, perhaps there could be someone in staff that is constantly looking for ways to improve pangaea's lore?
As I said in the poll topic, giving chances for special events or event creation trough proper RP behaviour would be perhaps the way to reward RP:ing.

Re: New blood
i always thought the reason why ppl didn't rp as much as they could, or there wasn't a feeling of "let's take part in history, let's build it" was that for many years, ultimately things were static. even though we had different guilds coming and going and religions changing a bit their lines, etc, it all seemed, in the end, too static, that's why i always thought it would be so good that we could have drastic consequences (for good and for bad) of things like quests, and even other things...then, the stuff that happens really influences things..
the mayor system was going to (hopefully) do some good, aswell as the siege system, since atleast that part would be dynamic, but even then, imagine if different cities would really be different, not just different graphics and different vendors, but having a lot more impact in political/economical scenario...i am aware that this may be too much for uo, but i'm just trying to get the message through so that ppl know what i'm talking about..
