PhP forums have the same option, personally I've always prefer to scroll down and see which section has new posts, so if I wasen't looking for anything to buy I would just skip the sale section and so on. Mind if I ask which features the new forum would give us?Iktomi wrote:So, at the moment, if you go to http://forum.pangaea-shard.com/active.aspx then it will show all the posts that have had activity since you last logged on. This may be more useful than the read/unread indicators.Quintoz wrote: The only problem it really has is that there is no indicator of a new post.
Let me know what people think, and if this is no good then we can look at seeing about doing some sort of indicator.

One of the main advantages is that it's also written in .net (the same as RunUO), so making interactions between the forums and the IG world will be possible (or at least way way easier).Quintoz wrote:PhP forums have the same option, personally I've always prefer to scroll down and see which section has new posts, so if I wasen't looking for anything to buy I would just skip the sale section and so on. For example, allowing people to put items up for auction and having those show up on the forums, including with automatic item delivery, or having votes take place on the boards and then having IG effects (for example, mayor votes).
We can potentially still add the "light" indicators. Will just need to see how other people feel (and when we can get time to do it on top of all our other scripting).

Allright those features are for sure worth it, well it's not like they are needed tomorrow or anything, just when you got time left over.Iktomi wrote:One of the main advantages is that it's also written in .net (the same as RunUO), so making interactions between the forums and the IG world will be possible (or at least way way easier).Quintoz wrote:PhP forums have the same option, personally I've always prefer to scroll down and see which section has new posts, so if I wasen't looking for anything to buy I would just skip the sale section and so on. Pretty much that, yes.Iktomi wrote:Still deciding exactly what to do in these situations... for example if you have a cook and tailor or a bowyer and carpenter. There won't be a mandatory deletion for sure...
When I get some time to do the transfer, I'll PM you so we agree on what to do then.

We can have any further discussions there.
