*Inserts scenario* People were creating rooms with fences inside their houses.

Counters have proven less viable for this. We are discussing better, less fiddly solutions.

So why were the new sale commands disabled?

I don't know, but does anyone else feel that this "automated" form of selling might reduce player interactivity? It's a concern that I'm beginning to have as people leave their stalls unattended- you can buy things without meeting the player who's selling it :\

It does cut down on some player interactions but ones I think are meaningless and unimportant anyway. Does it really matter if sales of stuff like kindlings/fishsteaks/exceptional weapons dont appear on the forums anymore? Those types of things only ever fetch a certain fixed price. Theres more chance of player interaction from people running around to different player 'shops' in game than doing deals for those types of items on forums or over ICQ.

added point:

How many times honestly if you have logged in just to go buy something from someone have you RP'd for more than 20 seconds? Maybe it just me but all that usually happens is "Heres the gold...thanks". This new feature could have led to players wanting their houses decorated as shops or warehouses therefore adding new things for carpenters to do, disabling it just seems like taking backward steps.

I'll be honest, while the stalls were a great idea and a impressive way to interact with the player base. There was just no way I could stand there in a stall waiting to RP all day. When it comes to that aspect, I felt like ultimately it wouldn't hurt to have things on sale in the stalls unattended. Possibly have set days where big sales would happen though, and people should come out(log on).

Either way, that area of New Haven hasn't been active in a very long time. It was a positive all around, but I understand if it needs to be discussed internally.

First noting that the sales mechanic has nothing to do with the sales forums being locked.

Personally I would've still wanted to expand upon this new mechanic and through it increase visibility of merchandise and a more centralized location for trading, which through usage would increase player visibility and interaction. The staff in general however didn't agree and could not come up with a single line to follow in this.

I've withdrawn from developing this system as I clearly have a different image on what would be healthy for our growth. Hopefully others will come up with something ingenious.

I too would of liked this developed upon more, it would of added a nice feature to turn your homes into shops or private guild stores not just for storage. but my main concern was its not a market feature, or one atleast that adds to the roleplay enviroment that is there.

I liked the system as well, it sure beats sale forums! It sucks that it was disabled...

+1

Just as Wille discussed about placing items out of the line of sight but still being able to buy them. Good idea, using it for the wrong purpose; that's where I would agree with Biggs. Same idea different scenarios ;)
