I don't know if this has been suggested by anyone before...but:
If a stall owner has stayed in or around the stall (let's say 30 tiles?)for 3 hours, they get 6 hours of time where Wille's "magical script" allows them to sell the items when they are offline. If the stall owner has been around the stall for 6 hours, 12 hours of Wille's "magical script" time is allocated. You could make the rewarded time 3x than that spent near stall, for example, 3 hours near stall giving you 12 hours of Wille's magic. Once you've spent Wille's magic, the script for your stall is disabled and you're not selling anything whilst you're offline, so time to earn some offline time by logging on near your stall then!
This might provide some incentive for staying around the stall if the player wishes to sell things when they are offline too. It might not necessarily promote better RP, but it might increase the chances of people staying in or near their stalls to allow for more player interaction.

Then again an NPC vendor selling your items would serve this same purpose, and be a little bit more RP.
Also, the staff didn't agree on this, but wouldn't it be nice if these kind of matters were actually asked from us, the players, on a poll forum. It's a great idea finally going somewhere, there's no point stalling it 'just because' it's different.

This is what we agreed to and will be implemented:
- - Personal NPC will be hired by each players to handle the sale of the items.
- You will have list of the items for sale when you talk to the NPC, but the items themself would be in containers or on display.
- You won't see prices straight from the items, you'd need to talk to the NPC first.
- If the items are sold through the NPC, there is a hiring fee something like 5-10% of the item price which goes to the NPC. That way it would encourage the players to make the deals themselves instead just let the NPC do all the work for them 24/7. But it would also serve its purpose at times when player cannot be present at the stall.
- We will make a huge marketplace designed solely for selling merchandise, completely static with proper well made and stalls. These stalls will be the only places where these merchants may be hired and used at. Stalls are bought, not rented.
- This marketplace will remain permanently open to allow players to get used to it as a market outpost and a possible meeting place.
- Players not affiliated with the goods, ie not owners, co or friends, may not craft from them.

Sounds good as long as the stall decays unless it's refreshed every month - so that new merchants have a chance of buying one as well when the old ones go inactive.

Also, I'd say we should keep the selling forums closed. If one wants to trade, then one goes to that market place! This tens to increase online count and IG interaction.
