Now, that vampire bone is junk, you can get cheap elite tunic. :p
Vampire surely isn't junk, they're lesser auros. Cheap, effective and good even in their current form. If you want to boost your elemental resistance, just add cloud giant boots and a gorget - or - perhaps a spesific resistance (i.e. fire, magic) with something cheaper.

Leather armor is best for sneaking, because it's literally made from hide.

and you can just train magic resistance..... ps ar is for getting hit and you should avoid that at all costs if you want more ar, my bard is always looking to hunt ; )
