Jehlom's Cuisine

Post by Aileth »

Teresa had just received a request from a regular customer to make a typical delicacy of Jehlom.
"Jehlom cuisine you say?" she asked "I will see what I can find."
She searched through the dustiest books at the library and found nothing. She asked several bakers, cooks, fishermen and no one had hear of a meal that was created in Jehlom.
"I'll have to go there myself!" and so she did. She took the boat and upon arrival asked the man at the port "Where can I find the local bakery?"
The fisherman gave her directions and there she went. The baker couldn't help her much, pointing out that the butcher might know of something.
"Come in, come in M'lady!" the butcher yelled through the window " We have something special today!"
"Something special?" she wondered, and after a few seconds of thought, she entered the butcher shop.
"Come closer" asked the butcher pointing to his counter "Can you recognize this?"
"Oh! It wouldn't be!" Teresa gasped at the dark meat on the counter. It wasn't just any kind of meat. "Is it d-dragon?"
"The real thing! We got a big one today at one of our islands." he said excited "We have many drakes but this was no drake. It was bigger and OLD, if you know what I mean."
"Could I buy some of this precious meat?" Teresa asked.
"It is a lot of meat to keep, I will sell you some. But do you know how to cook it?" asked the butcher.
Teresa shook her head.
"Hum... Go by my house later, my grandmother one of the very few who knows how to cook this type of meat." finished the butcher, drawing her a map with directions to his house.

After the sun set, Teresa headed to the butcher's house and was warmly welcomed in their home. The grandmother was sitting next to the fireplace, thin with silver hair, stirring a pot.
The smell coming from it was divine! Teresa engaged in a long conversation with the old lady.
"You'll have to try it my dear, I am not a cook but this is one of the few things I can still do best." said the old lady.

By the end of the evening, Teresa thanked the old lady and her grandson and returned to Ocllo with a new recipe for her catering services: A true delicacy of Jehlom Islands.
