Piety allows you to receive extra bonus from the shard which in returns ask you for your RP creativity, respect for the guidelines and activity on the server. If you don't, then you can still have your own char but without the "bonus" which you are always welcome to work for again.

If they get so busy irl so that they can't log in every second month for 15sec and do a mouseclick. I'm not sure they should be playing at all.Kent Strider wrote:lmao "Get too busy in the real world? F^&* you! Not allowed!"

It is obvious you have no real responsibilities in life.

We all have our responsibilities but I fail to see what this got to do with people getting kicked because they do not play anymore.
Piety is earned as Argon said. Don't take piety for granted. Keep playing if you want the power.

it's not hard to log once every 60 days to refresh altar, even if you have to be away. the only reason is if you're going to be away from a computer/internet connection/uo installed.
of course, this is also not a good thing considering every other class is as strong as they were when they left..
that's where piety will come to unbalance in every way possible, since only some chars benefit/depend on it

Every player has freedom to choose the class the best way it fits. I don't see how it is unbalance. Care to elaborate?Glarundis wrote:that's where piety will come to unbalance in every way possible, since only some chars benefit/depend on it
Re: Religions: altar confirmation dates
I think the bigger question is, that if the person gives some kind of notice "I am not going to be on Xamount of time due to this that reason" maybe their piety can be dropped only to 20, or 30?Monad wrote:Every player has freedom to choose the class the best way it fits. what i mean is, some chars have their strength based on trainable skills, and then some chars have their strength based on trainable skills AND something different (piety). since only some chars depend on the "piety" factor, these chars will always be able to be stronger/or weaker depending on something other than skills.
if let's say, a priest would be as strong as he can be when he's ancient and with 60 piety, you would "balance" the priest according to this standard to match the overall strength of the other chars. but this would mean every priest with less than 60 piety would just be worse than the standard, no possible way to be better. if you would decide to balance priests according to how strong a 40 piety priest would be, this would mean there would be stronger priests than that, and therefore, unbalanced. since piety doesn't gain up to 100 in a normal way, and once it is 100, you're as strong as you can be and that's it, there will always be unbalances between piety users and non-users.
a maxed barbarian will be a maxed barbarian and that's that. a maxed priest may be stronger or weaker according to piety. so, while "designing" the class system one would only match both classes' strengths comparing a maxed barbarian with a maxed priest with x piety. therefore, all other priests with different piety will be weaker or stronger. not because of their in game skills, but because of something else that we have, the piety system.
it's like having two skill universes in the same game.
the only "fair" way would be to have every class be able to have piety and therefore be stronger or weaker according to that (which doesn't make sense to me rp-wise, since they may not even have a religion...)
we can, of course, admit this is pangaea and that's our system. but in a sort of "very balanced" class system, where all maxed chars would be equally able to be good (even if not in 1vs1, or considering a class may be very good but not in pvp or pvm (treasure hunters)) the standard in every non-piety class is having their maxed skills. whatever standard you choose for piety users, there will be always be a +- unbalancing it because of the piety. the only way to balance it a bit more would be to have piety have much less impact on the strength of the characters. only hp would be stronger due to rp purposes, making a bit better blesses, etc. everything else would have to be about player skill (isn't that how every non-piety user has to play? )
i think this was discussed already in some other topic, though
