did you .online today? there was a quest today ;p
ontopic; other than that i've been having some client crashing but regarding the connection, i have noticed something fishy with saving the world state.
Re: recently lag
Weird thing, my 2D has actually been a tad faster lately. I can hunt with it atm anyway.
Re: recently lag
Couple of ugly lag spikes about an hour before the event started. We had one while fighting a Wander of the Void. That got ugly.

I don't think that beat the lighting thing on quest where almost everyone died.... as that almost crashed the shard i would thinkMike wrote:Couple of ugly lag spikes about an hour before the event started. We had one while fighting a Wander of the Void. That got ugly.

Re: recently lag
Had 1 lagspike in 4 days (I do not count the quest).
I haven't seen any unusual. TraceRoute looks okey. Been running it for an hour. No sudden spikes.

This could be any number of things.
On Pang's end, it might be under powered hardware, the connection still not fast enough (specifically the upload speed) or the hard drive may need to have spinrite run on it (or low level format the drive and re-install everything from backups).
On your end, if you are on a home network, make sure people are not torrenting (or doing anything that 'uploads' data). Also, make sure your hard drive has plenty of free space - typically 20 GB free for Win XP, 40 GB for Vista and Win7.
It also might not be a bad idea to run Spinrite on your own drive (every 3-6 months is the usual recommendation).
Also make sure you have enough ram, for most people, 2 GB is enough but if you are running alot in the background, consider 3 GB (if you are running XP or 32 bit Vista/Win7), you can do more if you are running Vista/Win7 64 bit (but you probably wont notice a difference about 4 GB).
Aldo, during a lag period, look at your hard drive, if you notice your hard drive light is on constantly, it is your hardware that is the problem, again, the usual cause for this is lack of hard drive space, not enough ram, or your hard drive is having trouble reading data.
I am a big fan of Spinrite, its a bit pricey (about the price of a new hdd at $90 USD, but, since I started running it on all my drives every New Years and 4th of July, I havent had a drive go bad on me.
