Archer or Ranger?

Basicly these two classes shouldn't even be compared. Surely they both shoot arrows, but that's pretty much the only thing mutual about them.

Rangers are closer to Knights and Archers are closer to Assasins.

I just today thought about changing my archer (religious one) to a ranger but decided to not do it. Since I can get my bow blessed by a priest, I just want to do the max damage I can with 85 poisoning and gm tactics.

Sure a 40 piety bless is nice but a 50 piety bless from a priest is better. Ranger just isn't a viable rite caster because of crappy statcap, if you want to get say 50 int, you won't be using many rites in combat (pvp or pve) without having to undress your armor and meditate. That's why the archers stats will be a lot better.

It's kinda funny reading this and people really think that a 40 piety ranger would be a better hunter or pvper for that matter then an archer.

PvM Archer in a religion = boss damage.

60 piety blessed spear/bow is nice.
