Oh there's no doubt in my mind at least that the loot has been nerfed, we're all running around safely in Indys though. So what do you expect? Finding only 6 subs in a full Khaldun clearance, well that's the part that was truely sad and a waste of time.
As for the spell fizzling, it's added a nice challenge. Not sure if I wanna see how this effects the Void's OP snowstorm though.

Re: NPC's fizzling a spell
Yeah Vaux, I was thinking about the Void myself as well when I said that loot should be boosted as well.
I just knew Boris will use the "We fixed a bug"-card and as such tries to justify the whines for this "nerf", but the problem is that in the past 10 years this is how it was and during those years the loot was adjusted to match the challenge - as in the loot was nerfed and nerfed again. From the player's perspective, even from the Staff's perspective there never was a bug during those years. If the big monsters such as lotas, balrons and voids can no longer be interupted - or is a lot harder to do so -, it obviously makes it a lot harder to kill and thus the loot should be adjusted again - this time boosted to match the increased challenge.
It doesn't really matter if it was a bug or not, but this fix will obviously make hunting big casters harder. I'm not saying this must happen right away, but I'm just pointing out that this was an obvious "nerf" to hunting - once again - and as such I ask the Staff to keep their eyes and ears open for those who are hunting these big monsters.

I agree that loot should be boosted but the road to that takes a little while.
Since the fix in several loot spawning routines was fixed many of the should be rare high end items are now very rare.
However, it is not good to simply make those items less rare, as the shard is already quite saturated with them.
In the future there'll be better loot on the high end mobs, but most likely we will devise better new kinds of loot instead of just adding more old.

I have to ask though in regards to the loot on high end mobs...
Is Doom even worth it now?

Was Doom ever worth it? ;)
I think the cost of 200k should be changed a bit. Once you pay 200k you should be given a deed, a lootable passport which you can use to visit it whenever you want. However, should you die, the deed gets looted and you have to re-buy it.
Hell, it could be raised to 300k that way.

Doom is sure to yield the entrance fees just in gold. Add all the clothes and other special loot, and you have profit. If you succeed.

Re: NPC's fizzling a spell
Add all the clothes? Doom monsters have better loot? As much as ive lately hunted the big-ass monsters i havent got any good cloth or magic item at all heh.
Re: NPC's fizzling a spell
You'd probably score an indy cloth, and a few fortified. Plenty of other magic items.

Re: NPC's fizzling a spell
So we get Doom, and the negative was a shard loot nerf?
I have to admit the only advantage of Doom was possibly getting a couple of Indy's to divide between a large party in which it took to clear.
Anyway, I digress from the OP.

Re: NPC's fizzling a spell
The idea of Doom was to give you Vets something harder (since you all claim that there is no challenge) to entertain with. The idea was not to have a place full of highend mobs for free because otherwise it could be grinded too much. So now you all something that is reachable for you to challenge which is calculated to give you in gold the money back if you succeed plus the enormous amount of materials that should compensate the gold.
It's your choice if you want or not to take the challenge, but at least you know there is something that should be considerably challenging for you out there to do.
Also, about the fees we have thought that we will not accept more than 1M in gold. So, after 5 people, you might not need to input more gold. This will assure you the money back since Doom is calculated to yield more than this. Now you know it!
