Incorrect. The playerbase dropped to near dead.

There was an increase in players that then disappeared rather fast when there was nothing left to do.

There clearly needs to be conflict, but there also has to be moderation. Personally I'm not 100% for dryloot as it will increase stoning, and that will create more hit-and-run old school robbers. But it's cool either way.

Gold and gems was one of the worst moves by the previous adminstration. Besides killing the playerbase, it also killed the economy and we're still suffering from it. Basicly when I joined the staff back in 2010, it was a miracle hitting a double digit on player count. It may not be far from the current state, but we're continuously moving forward with major changes. Now we can fully focus on the playerbase again, when all these massive projects from dedicated server testings to a new website are finally over. There's been a lot of work outiside of the game and perhaps that can be misunderstood as lack of intrest from staff side, but the truth is the opposite.

All the targets set over a year ago are finally coming true.

Leather armor is best for sneaking, because it's literally made from hide.

It's you and your idiot friends that are killing the server with your constant whining! Everytime you get owned, you cry for a nerf and find a new way to bend rules to your advantage!! Keep doing what you want, i won't type any more answers.

At the minute I'd say its got a good bit to do with summer and exams atleast. Perhaps even to do with people growing up a bit an shit too an getting on with their lives. Not through lack of trying, effort and changes on the staff side.

Hurray for dryloot, I can see major downside for teks imperials and only positive things for laws. Veritas will do the same damage as before, yet teks/myself will not be running around in indys. +1 for the good side already.
Not to mention the whole economy fix thrown into the mix too, am I the only one who has been stockpiling forti/massive clothes for when has came?
People will think twice about using indys, back before I quit I had an indy magery cloth I must of used on less than 10 occasions as I had the fear of losing it ... and tbh I dont think i ever got jumped once when hunting. Thats the way it should be though, I used a forti as i didn't risk my indy.

And to all the whiners thus far that I've read the posts of, have you not considered that any group of blues (WoA, law, nature etc) can jump any reds when they hunt also? Or do you's all lack the gahones to try that shit?

Bite the bullet and get on with it folks, personally i'm looking forward to it.

I returned to pang because a good friend of mine said it was safer to play (and hunt etc.) at that time, looting rules wore simple at that time robbers could only take gold and gems, there was an increace of playerbase on shard.
But then same old asholes decided to whine and staff as allways nodded and attended to their wishes, so they wore alowed to take weapons and armor and they kept whining untill you are considering bring dry loot back!
Have you guys been watching the playerbase decreacing? Keep doing all that those assholes want and you'll end up like before with only 1 player online from time to time!!
It's time for you to stop nerfing the ones that care about the server and want to stop those fuckers to allways get what they want!!
Do you realy want to sacrifice playerbase rather than a minority of kids who refuse to grow up? This is not the land of peter pan!
If you guys are realy going to alow dry loot again, i'll just saty in guarded cities macrooing some skills and most likely gona leave pang. again, and i'm sure some will do the same aswell!
No-one have told us what to do or what not to do when it comes to looting rules, we have decided what our aim is about a year ago and followed that path piece by piece, little by little.

Pangaea top online count 133 was achieved with no looting restrictions in place about 6-8 years ago. We had with the "everything but clothes" online count at 70 about half a year ago. We are aware that the online count have been dropping but there is never one single reason for that, never.
If I'd give my own input for why it's happened is the state of the religions which are all kind of sleepy at the moment. Religions form the base communities on the shard + sometimes one or two guilds achieve similar kind of communities aswell if they manage to grow big enough. Communities creates activity and the more active communities there are, the more they play together naturally. Usually we see players complaining about the tomes or rites or looting rules or what not what have caused the inactivity on the playerbase, but those have changed so many times and been so much different during much higher playerbase count that you can't really point out a single rule or single reason for the playerbase loss. Usually they are quite natural causes why religions turn out to inactive. To point a few: 1) new game released 2) key figures in religions have busy times in real life 3) lack of interest 4) summer time 5) personal issues inside the religion etc.

We have very active and well functioning staff currently and I have positive looks to the future despite the lower playerbase currently mainly because we have these basic but very important things covered:
  • - Active and capable scripter/developer
    - Active and capable server/forum admin
    - Running on dedicated server (big thanks goes to all donators)
    - New website
    - Good and capable setup of staff (no fuck-ups)
There are of course things to improve, especially with the quests and events which we try to improve on. Naturally we can't please everyone but our aim is to keep Pangaea how players have learned to love and hate it during the years. We don't plan to start soloing, but we plan to improve it and make it better but still keeping the original Pangaea spirit intact. Less worrying and hating, more playing.

On that note, the only time the shard has seen 35 people online funny enough was yesterday during a little pvp encouraged event that went down at khaldun. So ya, 'killing' the server, if by that you mean giving people something to do... then maybe.
I love to see peoples reasons as to why pvping kills the shard, just think everyone is given the same chances in this game not to mention we all run the same speed - the way I see it is if you die to a robber or die in general you fail, as you must of fucked up for this to happen.

Tekstone has been whining about veritas for the past 7 or 8 years, the problem still exists. No matter how you look at the rite it's not balanced even if it's been nerfed oh so many times.
I whine, therefore I am
