Darkmind always gets mad when things don't go his way, "RP my way or its lame and gay" Riiiight.
People don't seem to understand roeplay here, Law would never converse with you rather than kill you if your a murderer. This isn't modern times where the cops need to get probable cause, they KNOW your the bad guys.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
i just read the first post, cba to read all the rest of the usual stuff
but i'll post here the usual stuff
there have been long rp sessions before religious fighting in the past.
and when ppl know they can lose their gear or loot some gear, they quickly forget the rp part and move on to the pvp part.
also, writing and using your mouse isn't that normal. i bet we would see lots of roleplay if uo had a system where you could speak into a mic and it would put it into IG text. yeah!
but here, as soon as you have to start using your mouse you're not gonna see much roleplay while you have to run back and forth and stuff, except for the occasional 3 letter word or something

The mic input system to text would be funny...
1) You'd be talking in relatively medieval terms to a computer so people that could here you would be wondering what the hell is going on.
2) The funny typo's the mic would give due to different accents and things would be hilarious haha.

hehe oh well, i think the programs nowadays can be adjusted to your own way of talking, like, they have a calibration process and stuff.
atleast even like, 8 years ago or so there was this program, and it already had calibration process

It's the wrong attitude to have Kent. You have played on Pang for quite some time and have experienced some positive times IG from the simple magic that can be shared with another person through RP. Kerb stated it already and I will continue to reiterate; the structure of Pangaea is broken. Law is at the top and all others fall beneath it. With that type of architecture, staff wants us to be mature and I think a certain level of civility is capable to be met but the continuing issue is that the staff also entrusts so much responsibility and power into one religion for being the protectors of the world and it's clear from some responses that have been posted in this thread alone that the ego and personal level of maturity that is needed is not where it needs to be. The system has been broken for quite some time and I'm sorry to say that nothing will change until an overhaul of the IG religious power structure changes. Simply put, the IG political makeup has spawned all of these problems over years which explains the deep seeded angst people have developed towards one another.People will continue to play here and have their RP events and find community but Pangaea will be nothing more than what it currently: pockets of immature players vying for internet points with one another.Kent Strider wrote:Darkmind always gets mad when things don't go his way, "RP my way or its lame and gay" Riiiight.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
i cba to quote your post tyrion and am quite drunk its 6am here in tenerife - i agree tho all the power has been entrusted in the law tome. elya can use it and he is one of the very few capeable of doing so (zarek will also once he gets 40P) - structure of the tme system is wrong imo also
Re: Players, rules and behavior
How come it wasn't "broken" when the peak of players was 100+?
Law was even more powerful back then compared to other religions so your logic doesn't match. Imperial was in Papua with lot more shitty rites and guards, Tekstone was in Fire Island with no guards at all and lot more shitty rites, Nature was pretty much the same but without the guards. So my question is how come you consider it to be broken now when every religion compared to Law have been getting stronger to what it was when the playerbase was much bigger? I don't see any logic for your statements, I just see the cba attitude because your PvP rites doesn't match 100% with Law's.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
Athan that isn't what Tyrion meant... I think? If I read correctly, the problem is not that one religion is entrusted with the most power, the problem is that most of those players who have that power aren't responsible and mature enough to use it. Imperial is all about RP and even though I don't meet them very often, nor like them, still I am able to have real conversations with them without it leading to a bloodbath.
To me RP is interaction and counter-action, reacting to what other people do around you. So, what I dislike is not that something doesn't go my way, I dislike that some people simply aren't capable of contributing anything to the RP... and instead of being quiet and let the other players enjoy the moment, they focus on RUINING it with lame "funny" stuff simply because they might find the whole consept of RP retarded and childish. It's like playing soccer, if you don't like it, stay at the bench and let those play who enjoy doing it. Do not go running around making own goals, ruining it for everyone else, your own team and your opponent just because you think the game is stupid, childish and retarded.
[Edit] I can see someone easily making the mistake of thinking I don't like when things don't go to my way because my character DARIAN doesn't like when things don't go her way. You can see it IG that she won't give in easily, but that's just how she is. Being once the most powerful priest on this shard and Dennac's right hand for more years than most of the players here have played the whole game, she is very proud and has an ego and won't listen to "lesser" beings telling her what to do.
Quite the opposite. I enjoy and like to be challenged in RP-sense. I don't like stories going according to some pre-written plot where anything we do has no affect in the outcome. A good example is the Imperial uprise when they took Britain from Law/Tekstone alliance. We actually killed them all multiple times, I even stoned Blackthorne twice - and instead of Imperial needing to free him, the guy just re-appeared. Still we lost because it was decided beforehand and no matter how much we killed Imperials they still won.Kent wrote:Darkmind always gets mad when things don't go his way, "RP my way or its lame and gay" Riiiight.

Re: Players, rules and behavior
And I would like to point out that all you guys continue with the whining and I can guarantee that the staff doesn't have motivation for anything for more than a few months. There might be a reason why part of the staff doesn't keep active for long and one big reason is that whatever we do you guys (most of you) always seem to forget the good changes right away but start to complaining and pointing fingers on the next issues what seems to be so totally wrong. Not a very motivating environment to work in and try to improve stuff on, I dare you to think that for a moment. Repsak got tired of that, Alteran got tired of that, I'm sure many of the current staff me included are getting tired of that aswell to the point that it's just not worth spending time on anymore.
Would be quite refreshing to once in a while to see you guys just playing the bloody game and be grateful that there are some staff out there who try to improve the shard for quite some long time just so you could have more fun playing.

Actually, you are correct.Kent Strider wrote:People don't seem to understand roeplay here, Law would never converse with you rather than kill you if your a murderer. This isn't modern times where the cops need to get probable cause, they KNOW your the bad guys.
However, using that same purely genious logic, robbers and murderers will no longer say a word when they kill and cleanloot you.
The problem here is that we as players must use our common sense, be resonable and responsible to understand that we are possibly killing another player who might not want to be killed. With such power we have responsibilities and because we failed at those is the very reason why looting was first removed in Alteran's time and only slowly added back - it was too much hastle.. and can't say it's much better now. Losing his gear is already annoying, but what is more annoying is losing it to a one-liner. At least if we are "smart" and "nice" about it, even if the outcome is the same, they guy will less likely rage-quit, rage at ICQ, take it up to GMs or go all anal when he realize it was absolutely nothing personal, and instead had a "nice" experiment and perhaps even a little fun.
