Thief class

Post by Glarundis »

is it not possible to snoop while hidden?this is just a question, but i wanted to discuss if there was some way we could find to boost the thief class, it seems that no one plays it, or that it just is too hard to play

you can't snoop while hidden (maybe with high snooping it's possible)?
if you get caught you stay criminal for 500 days (it's 15 minutes right?)
people usually hang around moving without standing still waiting to be stolen (just like with backstab)
i heard it's really hard to train stealing (but let's assume that if people can have 100, then we should see how good 100 is)

then, it also takes some seconds to actually snoop and steal.

isn't all this put together a little bit too hard?
it annoys me that while rogue players spend shitloads of time to train their skills and ways of playing for almost no reward, other people can just make a priest/barbarian and train him A LOT quickly and have him totally own the rogues (since the rogues don't excel even at their own game....)

Rogues have pretty many various abilities.
Thief already gets GM lockpicking, hiding and stealth.
Their special ability is to steal - why making it easier with such variability of skills?

Not many players have actually done any intense testing on this class to even say a word of it being worth or not.
Why would anyone even bother revealing their secret tricks of playing their class successfully?

The class is exactly as successful as you can use it.

GM lockpicking and no reward? what planet are you on really.

As far as snooping/stealing goes theres been plenty of people succesful at it. The difference is these people have put some thought and time into how to do it more effectively whereas you just want to walk to brit bank hide and steal from someone in 10 minutes.

thieves have 85 hiding/stealth.
ofc 100 lockpicking is great, i was talking specifically about stealing/snooping.
and i don't want it to be like this or like that, i was just asking.
i don't even have a thief. and i was thinking, maybe it's not that great, because you haven't heard people complaining about getting stolen by thieves..

Generally I'd call thieves simply a hard class. The skills are slow and it takes skill to play the class. Mostly the the second part matters. The best thieves in the shards history were barely adept in their skills, but they simply knew what to do and where to do it. At the moment there are more than a handful of thieves training. When they have the courage to actually start stealing, that's when the clothes start missing and boards will be flooded with whine.

Leather armor is best for sneaking, because it's literally made from hide.

Only if thievs wouldnt need to wear snooping gloves.
Actually i would like to see that when you double click gloves in backpack you would dress them and give target who to snoop instead of message "you need to be wearing these"

if you are not wearing other gloves, that's what will happen. you dress the gloves and the target appears.
if players are paying attention, it's impossible to steal them. you need to be revealed to snoop and the blue from the gloves can give you away. also, if someone sees a guy next to him and then after few seconds he disappears, they know it's something fishy :P
the success of stealing lies on afk'ers! go rp :D

If you think thief class is all about stealing what people have on them, you are silly.
