That sounds good. More melee fighting for sure with that idea and equal for everyone.

That's actually a good idea and might work. Although I'd make it scale up to 60% for 50 piety and 70% with Head Priest. After all there's only 4 HPs and a few 50 piety priests so that shouldn't be a big deal. Not to mention, those priests shouldn't be killed easily with a simple ritual as malleus or keening. People would realize that killing the HP takes melee and not one ritual spammed by 5 priests.

Anything over 50% would make rites useless so I'm against that. You should still be able to use rites to finish people off, unless we are aiming to make rites useless and melee king.

It'd be max. 50% just like the elemental resistance system. It needs to be equals for all classes, so it must cap at 40 piety.

On the other hand, we could implement this only for Knights/Rangers. There are so many Priest bonuses in the game, while Knights/Rangers have nothing.

Useless against 1-2 priests per religion. I'd take 24 points of damage per malleus instead of 30 and Darion would take 18 points of damage per malleus. Yes, this means that our enemies are better of hitting us with a scepter than wasting malleus on us. Same thing as we'd not waste keening on Elya or Zarek. Is that a bad thing? Imho not. With great power you achieve the status of not being afraid of enemy rituals. Veritas would still hit me for 18 points which if spammed by 5 priests is still enough (90 points of damage) to keep me out of its range, but a single veritas or two would make us able to "ignore them".

Yea I was actually thinking that also, since head priests should be the demi-gods, as Boris himself has said so. But if thats the way, go ahead. Im not against it as long as the PVP isnt that rite oriented anymore. More melee, less rites.

Well, basicly it can't be vs. any holy damage - or affects even your melee damage.

So basicly we'd need a list of rites it would affect...

- Veritas
- Keening
- Malleus
...

Else?

The whole point of this thread was that knights/rangers feel useless, but your piety proposal still disadvantages knights/rangers (as they gain piety the slowest). All malleus/keening will be directed at them and people will continue dropping their respective classes to join priests. Seems okay as an idea if it were tweaked to more substantially benefit knights/rangers than monks/priests
