Oblivion: The 5th Religion

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
The oblivion religion has been thought of last friday, as a manner to turn the tekstone situation as we had it in a positive way for both parties. There has been various of fuckups from all parties involved without any real positive manner to fix this issue. We saw fitting to create a new religion, with their tome based on Tekstone' tome. That way we can support both parties involved to best satisfaction.
As the time passes we are to tweak and finalize the religion, and write the story based upon this religion.
Once set, I'd expect a war between tekstone and oblivion

Yes.Talerco Pious wrote:So a takeover just by sneaking in the zerg and then vote out the hp? Pretty lame and dishonorable way of getting the HP spot, Dennac does not approve. You guys had ~2 months to prove yourselves but you did next to nothing, not having piety is only an excuse.
Yet it is the only way supported by the scripts.
Someone once said: "Don't hate the players, hate the game."
And like I said, it takes minimum of 45 days to reach 30 piety, which is necessary if you want to do anything half-effective. Not having piety is not an excuse rather than the truth and an undeniable fact. Once the HP vote was deactivated, we knew it will take much longer before anyone can do anything. We had patience though.
Anyway, just to humor me, you go ahead and tell me how they should have taken over Tekstone if I hadn't secretly indocced them and if the GMs said they will not intervene or help them? Had there been a better or more effective way to take over it, I'm sure it had been done that way. Sadly this was the only way and the first time in Pangaea's history anyone tried it and it obviously doesn't work as intended - which is an issue we should try to fix or otherwise the whole "disloyal" function is useless.

Fight for it, not just idle behind the locked door. Why should they even be granted more piety when they did nothing to deserve it, except sacrifice their nature piety? Not to mention you seemed to RP it the way that you want to destroy the cult.Darian Darkmind wrote:Yes.Talerco Pious wrote:So a takeover just by sneaking in the zerg and then vote out the hp? Once we are all set up with Oblivion, it's all free game and up to you guys
Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
More religions = more troubles, staff are you sure you made the right decission? There is already 4 options for players to join and fit in, if they dont they were supposed to stay out of religions.
Other than that, I guess my time on pangaea is close to an end. I dont realy agree with "coming up" with a rp background for new religion out of thin air either.
I guess this is religion hopping to maxinum, join lawful religions -> force yourself into tekstone -> be disapproved -> get a religion as a reward for all the troubles you've caused.
EDIT: Atleast rename it, no players should get religion called oblivion. Make it earth diggers cult or something.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
Why a 5th religion? I think it's because someone in the staff lacks some balls. Old tekstone leadership should already been overthrown if the staff didn't decide to protect them.
Also the comments like "a takeover just by sneaking in the zerg and then vote out the hp? Pretty lame and dishonorable way of getting the HP spot, Dennac does not approve" are full of shit and hipocrisy. I doubt Dennac aproves those who retreat before loosing while defending the temple, pretty lame and dishonorable, i doube dennac aproves coward actions like mule marked runes from druids, plague and idle just to show litle activity, run when a law member appears, etc, etc, etc
But I can't agree with a 5th religion just for convenience, if the staff couldn't deal with it, it should stay out of it and let the system work as was intended.

Have to agree. Once again I fail to see the oh so great logic behind such actions from the staff. The Tekstone situation should have ended with 1 winner. The guys trying to take over took a risk but doesn't seem like it was a risk afterall.Johnny Walac wrote:We barely have enough players for 4 religions. And now add another religion into the Tome balance mix? Nah. No thanks.

Re: Oblivion: The 5th Religion
This whole Tekstone thing was the weirdest thing I had ever seen on Pang. Even while I was India for a month I was checking on the situation daily on the Imp map for curiousity:
Me: Hey guys, has anything new been going on?
Everyone: Nope, they're all just sitting in their houses macroing.
So for a full month people were locked up in their houses so they couldn't be excommed, waiting for piety. This all comes across as one big in-the-grey-abusing-game-mechanics to me, which when you consider the "I only play on Pang" mentality should have been expected. Who is the originator of the piety? the deity? What was the deity doing in all this time as this drama unfolded? The new religion thing was a surprise, never expected it to happen ever even if the player-base had doubled.
I'm ambivalent about the whole thing, so I'm just looking at it as a piece of drama, seeing what's happening now...
