Reminiscent Path of Light
Continued..

The leather crackled as the old journal was opened, Maven grabbed his quill pen and touched it to the tip of his tongue. The ledger of the days events were made of note, accomplished would be the first word that came to his mind. As he was entrusted with the many new duties in the bestowed upon rank, he ensured he would remember every new moment alongside the old. As he sat in his oaken chair next to the now tepid fireplace, the moon glowed through the window pane. It was apparent then, as Maven thought to himself of the namesake of this glorious city, it's beauty at night was certainly renowned. Weary but not yet sleepy, he sat awake not willing to prepare for bed. His thoughts drifted off to an array of topics, his path was long but he wondered where it led next. The comfort of his home and duties led to a peaceful mindset on this night, but there was still very much left to accomplish. Longing questions of the current days could not be answered, often hindering Maven amongst his thoughts. The progression within himself being the decisive notion, his personal fulfillment was incomplete. The recollection now began to grow within his mind, thoughts of his path were now consistent, as he turned the pages back to read the preceding entries...

Frostfall, Momdas the 11th

The training has been in place for months now, and with every growing day I feel as if I learn something new. The progression of using music as my weapon to now rely on my own mind has been a strenuous task to undertake. One where resigning would of been considerably easier if I must be honest with myself. Specifically, the three components that make up the casting of a spell are the words of chant, a somatic target, and reagents of the desired spell. The practice of these shall be perfected, as my intelligence only grows stronger. Father's knowledge within the Lexicon has not only been immensely beneficial also, but a conveyance of sorts from where ever he now lies. These feelings of reassurance have made me confident enough to carry on with my goals, although I can't help but feel my true path has not yet been set. The knowledge accumulated within these spells have been meaningfully gratifying, but a higher sense of true self seems to be omitted.

Frostfall, Loredas the 16th

I've received a letter from Cederic regarding his pilgrimage to Moonglow and the incident causing his departure. Without a moment's notice he was escorted out of Britain, assumed to be the effect of his new found beliefs. Lord British's guards while hostile, did not draw their weapons to convey their message. The return of Imperial seems to be rampant throughout Felucca now, and there are some not so elated on the matter. I must admit it's wonderful to hear of Cederic and Camerest's safe journey, as I grew worrisome. The daily tasks of the Vaux estate was now Victoria and I's to handle, and quite frankly I couldn't be any more underwhelmed on such a thought. Reading along I could tell Camerest's strong will was composed within the words now. He spoke of the escape from tyranny and the power he held now. It was nothing he had ever experienced before, an undeniable sense of virtue. His faith in his companions was inspiring, and his bow never seemed more powerful. Reading forth this sense of praise, I must acknowledge the feeling of fascination that over came myself. Perhaps accepting their invitation for a visit would be beneficial, in the aspect of furthering my training of course.

Maven paused as he placed a feather within the seam, both his brother's passion seemed to be lost now he thought. This renewed faith that begun, it was something to behold for surely every man and woman. Protection of a Goddess only worthy to those that accept the one true faith, it was to be our way of life. A sense of preservation among loved ones, an undying hope only strengthened by true faith. The power could not be analyzed by few words, it's immaculate fortitude could only be transcribed by experiencing such a phenomenal sense of enlightenment. Those initial feelings of jubilation and light, they truly couldn't be rivaled by any other sense known to man or woman. The world became a bright and vibrant surrounding, intertwining your mind, body and soul. In the beginning, the elevated senses of touch, vision and sound were indeed frightful. Growth and experience followed of course, and led Maven to be entrusted with responsibilities. The consequences of such a power however allows one to feel the light grow faint in one's heart. It's a very unbecoming sense that is often embraced alongside the reverence of strength given. It was with this, along with the many days spent within the temple's monastery, that the impression of a dimming aura was felt. Paths of light were expected to alter of course, something Maven would have to accept in his time. A fire often loses it's illumination and suffocates, but who is to say it can not last for an eternity? Something would have to be done to preserve Her name...

He turned the page as the fire shimmered and shadows danced, masking the sharply written words...

Sun's Dawn, Fredas the 3rd

I awoken to the sun peaking through the cracks of the wall, and began to pack my things. I suppose I'll only take 5,000 gold pieces for this trip, in terms of spending there will only be few opportunities arise. I only worry if a scoundrel were to grab my satchel, I would hate to end a life for merely 5,000 gold and 12 pieces of this "Sushay", Victoria has been experimenting with her cooking, much to my dismay. At first glance it looked as though she merely forgot to cook these damned things. Admittedly, I'm set in my traditional manners of fine foods, but nevertheless she's quite inventive. Personally I don't believe she'll get very far with this sort of thinking, although I must commend her for showing our Mother's wits. I don't care much for the strong fish after taste that lingers, but I deduct that they're quite delicious and filling.

Given that I have no previous knowledge of Moonglow, it seems I must sail there first to mark my runes. The docks were quite easy to find much to my surprise. They were located just south east of the bank, and I shall make note of this now. Most assuredly, I feel Victoria will need information of this at the least. The man greeting me for my coin to set sail was quite brash, but I forfeited the funds any how as I had no time for quarrels. A man by the name of Brom greeted me as I boarded, he then acknowledge he would be the tiller for my journey. I asked him to set sail east for Moonglow with haste, if possible. The trip itself would be enduring, however my feelings were enthralled with thoughts of greater knowledge and enlightenment. Further discussions with my brothers could only be beneficial for my training. With my magical lore complete, it seems like a natural progression to pursue the slightest hint of additional wisdom. One's assessment of thyself is only as good as they foresee it to be, in this reasoning I shall travel everywhere I must.

Rambling among my thoughts written upon this parchment, I've just now noticed we have arrived at Moonglow docks. Not a moment past high-noon, which is the agreed upon time my brother Cederic said he would meet me along the west gates. After exiting the boat I was greeted by a guard in a hostile manner much like Britain's. He asked for my name and what brought myself to Moonglow. After stating my business he accordingly allowed me to proceed. It would seem these men are on alert, in these times I do not doubt such. The awakening and resurgence of these titian colored robes were welcome by many, but by no means did everyone feel the same way. The town is alive with business, many walking to their destinations as I looked around freely. I began my stride to the west gate as I looked upon the faces of the citizens. They seemed to be joyful by my measures, and quite honestly this was something anew. I'm can not be sure, however within the last month this appearance had all but left Britannia.

Maven strays from reading the exert in his journal. He leaned over in his chair to adjust his robe and gathered his thoughts. If a moment in time had to be marked for the beginning, this would be the time. A picture in his mind began to develop, it was of the encounter with his brother Cederic in Moonglow that day. Prevalent feelings could be shared at this instant, the memory was clear to him...

Maven recalls his brother's warm embrace, the hospitable feeling of comfort on his decision to make the journey. There were often doubts if this expedition would be beneficial, ones he did not write upon his parchment. The feeling of reassurance was certainly powerful, with confidence being the wonderful emotion from it's effect. It was simply moments later that Cederic asked him to walk the path to the north, he had something to show Maven. The beginning of a transition, the force and strength that is alive inside today...
